am getting a taxi driver job soon, wanna ask all the guru here how did you guys learn and remember all those road names and locations? any advice for a newbie like me?
How to handle those customer when you dunno the way?
thanks thanks
Best to refer to Street directory with updated version.
yr best bet is to buy a GPS system lor
its expensive i knw, but at least u can use it not onli whn ur on taxi duty, but mebbe also can bring if u go cycling, for example.
熟能生巧。Keep driving casually and you will know the road names.
As for handling customers when dunno way, i dunno.
thanks, so if using a GPS for those location you really dunno, when do you key in the seach before you drive off or when you stop at the next traffic juntion?
I will tell them I'm still new & ask for their help to guide if they know the way,if they also don't know then ask permission to see directory,if cannot then no choice pls take other taxi:)
So far most people I encounter are quite ok to guide me...
u mean how to pass the course ?
To pass the course , just study the syllabus " by hard " , the question all come from the text ... the answers most come from the instructor . Difficult ? U'll have massive problems if u can't figure out ABC , if can manage ABC , then just fill in the blanks with AB or C .
familiarity
If u pass the test .... when u are on the road ....
A few circumstances ....
1. Customer totally dunno location circumstances ... park vehicle one side , looked for location via Street Directory . Safest and most reliable . Accident free .
2.Customer reached there then know circumstances, then follow his route , reach that zone , then park vehicle one side , look at Street Directory again , if drive comfort or citycab , just key in building or road name , the system will locate for you , technically , looking at the GPS sytem while driving accident prone .... cos u cannot do 2 things at one time if u're no good at doing it .
3.Customer know the location , but act dunno circumstances , so when u hit the error button , they will whack you upside down , this one u have to lan lan . But learn this way is the best , the hard way .
Customers is the best teacher for alll new bird cabbies .
Mine encounter , 99 percent of taxi commuters know the exact way they're going .
From there .... absorb as much as you can .
At a certain circumstances , customer gave you a road name or building name , GPS or Street Directory find here find there also no such place , then tell the customers : " Get out , take another cab ! "
No la ... tell them politely , it's for the best of both party if they can take another cab who know the way .
GPS , now cheap la .. but remember this ...... accident not cheap !!
The chances of accident is higher if you drive and focus on the GPS rather than on the road .
Aiyo , i give you 3 months ..... u can curb those problems in 3 months .

Customer under such circumstances , they won't be angry , cos they understand we cannot know everything .

For season cabby , no season cabby uses a GPS and give credit for it's effectiveness .
My GPS software inside my head , no technology and money can buy .
