18$ for a taxi fare for short trip.It's a daylight robbery!

I took a cab from IMM(Jurong East) to NUS(clementi) at about 8 o'clock in the morning. It took me so long due to the traffic jam and the cabby asked me 18 $ even though the meter showed 13 $ only. He said additional $5 was charged for 'peak hour'. OOPS!
In our country we pay depending on the destination, not by time. So like that - even short trip we must pay a lot if the driver drives very slowly and stops some more at traffic.

there's a small surcharge thingy @ the bottom.
the total fare should show $18.
clementi is always jammed in the mornings -_-

then u shd just pay wats on the meter and get off the cab.
and ask for receipt
so can comprain to taxi company
so the cabbie can be sacked and go jiak sai -

I think from IMM to NUS, yr cab did not past thru' Clementi but thru AYE, rite?
AYE at peak hr must have got ERP...maybe you want to check it out?.... -
i don't remember seeing erp gantries on aye from jurong town hall to buona vista exit.
the only 1 i know is just before alexandra road exit.

i tot you would just have to pay what's on the meter?
the top part show the fare without any additional charges, the bottom part show additional charges like peak hr and stuffs. -
when the taxi moving the price on the meter is purely the distance fare, then when u reach he will press a button then the total fare including surcharges will be there

That's why I dun take cab to school unless I am late for lecture... hehe....

2. if go by commonwealth ave west/clementi rd
jam.
3. if go by jurong town hall then AYE jam.
if u say it's S$13, 135% of metered fare is $17.55. i'm sure u missed some few cents for the "$13".
PS. : for singapore currency, the dollar sign appears infront of the amount.

I got the receipt , but I didn't aware of another meter was there or not. However I was in rush and I had no time to ask him. But no point he cheated,rite? I mean he only get monthly salary and he must give all taxi fares to his company,rite?

Taxi drivers rent taxis from taxi company
so taxi drivers not taxi company employees, more like customers
taxi drivers can sack taxi company but not otherwise

haha. He got commission also la. If not, every driver who has reached their passengers quota will stop hiring passengers. -
