Look like day shift driving now facing many TP coming all up with motorcycle, scooter and subaru on highway and on any road, even uniform in white private engaged personnel on overheadbridge behind big tree all on lookup with digital camera. very hectic. any wrong move few hundred dollar gone.
What about night? Guru Aln any comment on this.

ya true. one wrong move about $150 gone liao.... one day income gone.... just avoid bus lane, beating lights, dont exceed by more than 20km/l.... should be quite safe liao .... haha but i sometimes still make illegal u-turn and stop and pick pax inside cbd, pick at bus stop lah.... that's why i say every day without summon and accident is a successful day....

but seriously... if you follow all the traffic rules.... ur collections can be consistently miserable....haha...

hA..Mr Alvin, actually with all those reports from media and those written, thing are not the same as i encounter, for me i think just take it easy as a partime like what you mention and with the slow pace, still this 4 days collection and job scope, still can take it. other mention after this CNY period down with 20% or 30% of intake and passengers drop. but let me tell you it all depend on how you make your run, still as per normal.
But night, i think i bit tough now aday of information gather. its true.

just tuesday afternoon infront of Istana one comfort cabby alighted his pax in front with the double red line bus lane, zoom here a subaru TP....so what he get. you think you can escape, all up for revenue collection, very on nowaday.

No only drivers will kena .... HDB carpark also come quite reguarly , NEA also quite fast , once throw cigarette bugs , u will kena on the spot .

DAY
this few days in the afternoon sudden downpour, taxi business look good... many caught in the rain on but stop where shelter available. and many on-call jobs... even suspended not taken any jobs penalise for the next one hour, job auto keep coming in.
NIGHT
what about the evening slot? Gurus.
So rain really help generated income...

rain definitely help esp evening peak hour... but those usually hot hours like 8pm to 10pm where demand is already full, i prefer no rain cos slow down traffic and boarding time....

rain definitely does extra income good , but accident rate also goes up , especially those Crowns ... any skid can caused 360 degree turn .
So some of my counterparts skip driving on raining day , they say not worth it .

Night shift i intend to find a Thurday night to past my time , cos Friday my rest day ... furthermore Thursday night this year is holiday eve night .
Heard from my former taxi buddy demands goes up a bit , maybe due to the GST credits , not for long i guess , so his strategies is all housing estate , townless . Still he manage to get a relatively reasonable income compare to last few weeks after new year .
Still for him , Saturday suxs as usual .

Day shift i heard from some cab i took , also goes up just a bit ..... peak hour if can get 2 or 3 more pax , it solve your problems for the whole day , one of my old buddy who called me , said since he one man show , started from 7am , to 4.30pm , for his first half , he already hit near to $250 collection , that amount is good , as far as i can see . That is his average Mon-Fri !

yah crown tyres and brakes sucks!... that's why when i drove crown, i will drive with a gear lower...e.g. 4th gear max on expressway.... or 3rd gear when 60 to 70km/h.... waste petrol or spoil engine better than accident...

I cant reach $250 from 7am to 4pm, then go top up fuel and return to hirer. never saw $200 before... even on my best days.

sun also play a part, like as today everywhere you go around abundance of paxs.
hot is good also...taxi at full aircon blast still hot inside, this kind of condition.
Night
sun unfortunately, never can never be seen at night,
uncle alvin... that why day and night are not the same.
what about the moon, hehe

Very fast Qing Ming festival again, weekend day shift sure got chance to encounter those jam at those few places.
But not at all for those on the night shift.
That is why day and night driving pattern are not same.
