Notice there is none pertaining this topic. Read in the newspaper, Income and SMRT quite aggressive in their recruitment. I wonder if the seniors here and those who recent got their license can comment:
a. any difference in Income and SMRT training courses?
b. both offer express class, meaning?
c. can't remember exact but one of them have abt $4.8K incentive while the other abt $6k. What the difference?
d. can a Income driver drive a SMRT and vice-versa.
Appreciate all advice. Thank you kindly.
Me ? Me Comfort la ..... traditional .
Same la ..... it's up to u .
But experience wise , Comfort's instructor more experience .
I dunno now , now like got Singapore Taxi Academy , at Bt Merah Area , near Jalan Tiong .
Still my last advice .... Internet , employ ALN as the candidate , pay him coffee money , he take test for you . Lagi chop chop .
LOL .
Thank you ALN and poolman.
Didn't know can take online class. Only Comfort have it? That would be good. Save travelling time and especially parking charges. Looks like Comfort is the choice.
I took online passed within a month. so very blur, no coaching, no discussion, no one can ask, everythings on self study on not updated vocation licence book, luckily found this forum Taxi Uncles n Bros very friendly n helpful, they r all very willing to teach n give lobang. so if U hv problem feel to come here to consult them. Cheers..............
I went for the CityCab online course and online test at Singapore Taxi Academy, the fatest way to obtain your TVL.
I found the SMRT website to register for the online course but not the Comfort website. Anyone can advice the website or need to go to any of their taxi kiosk to do it? Thanks =)
Time of this information -> 05 Feb 2009, 5:19pm
I called Comfort to ask about the online training and was told the earliest possible online course starts in Apr 2009 due to unpopular demand! Would you believe it???!!!
Oh I forgot to ask how to apply coz I said I try SMRT...hehehe
So anyone knows? Thanks.
Update: 05 Feb 2009, 5:43pm
Called SMRT and their online starts 27 Feb 2009. Going down to register.
Good luck to me.
you should know better than anyones, who gave you the best benefit go for it.
end of the day if you got that TVL and drove from which taxi companies.
on road one day all are the same.
vocation: Taxi driver
still all the same, how much your income... how much hours you spend... how many Km you run your taxi ...how many singing song from paxs on board...how many destinations you got no knowledges... how many lar kopi cases... how many day and night encounter different kind of paxs... how many sweat and hard long hours on road how many competition with various cabbies dogfight on road...at the end of the day ... there is not much a different whether which taxi company you trained from... also same a cabby or better definition chauffeur on hire with own vehicle to your need... at your service. ya...nothing to be proud.
I heard SMRT online candidates mostly pass at 1st attempt. I'm also one of them:) they give very good study tips... collecting my taxi tml & going OMO
Just to update I gotten my TVL last month.
Now to source for part-time taxi work. Any advise or lobang much appreciated.
No taxi experience but clean driving record for the last 5 years at least *touch wood*
Thanks =)
Thanks ALN for the advise.

clean driving record with any other cars doesn't mean u can be clean with Toyota Crown !!!
This Crown braking distance ..... can be larger than any other vehicle on the road .
And it's centrifugal (hope i get the spelling right) , as in swerving .... took up a larger scales than any other vehicles .
As it's vehicle lightweight , don't come with terms with the provided tyres .... as in it can skid with a minimum of slippery on the road surfaces .
Take care when driving in the rain . Take care .

Both pte & gov are available, you should have a list of clinics given by STA,I was given one
If u r staying in the north, can go to the clinic below Admiralty MRT next to 7-11,can do both xray & medical examination together

All at home ... until i confirm my next move .
went to the clinic below admiralty mrt, they charge me $37.45 cts and collect the papers next wednesday. the whole thing took less than 1 hour, if go to polyclinic or govt hospital i think it will take the whole day
