Use EZ link to pay for your SMRT cab fares
Come next month, commuters will be able to use their EZ Link cards to pay for their cab fares on board SMRT taxis.
About 600 of its fleet of 3,000 taxis will be installed with the card reader first, with the rest progressively installed with the readers by March next year.
SMRT is the first taxi operator to allow the use of EZ link cards to be used in cabs.
Other forms of payment include credit cards and cash.
The company says the new reader will allow the passenger to check for the balance in the ez link card before he pays for the fare.
However, GIRO-linked cards will not be accepted.
An administrative charge of 10 cents for each transaction will be waived until 2010.

... 10 cent or 10 percent? wait like the credit card like that... 10 %... even visa/master/amex/diners also never charge 10%...

with transport fees rising, I'm sure many people will top up quite a sum in their ez-link so that it saves them the hassle of frequent top-ups..

last time still can calculate and think twice whether wan buy consession or not. nowadays like cannot leh. like they will earn so much more if no consession
and will u think they come out with taxi consession?

Those who has got EZ link usually don't take a cab , unless necessary .
Those who has no EZ link card ,usually dun take a train or bus .
Just what i always thought as a cabby before .
Those who has cash all the time , would not mind any charges they pay to get a cab home .

But using EZ link card provide extra option for commuters ....
NETS still the more popular one .
As a cabby before , cash is always KING .

If one day , the SMRT cab driver kena all people used EZ link to pay farel , then he'll end up telling his hirer : " Hey boss , rental tmr pay , today no cash , all people pay by EZ Link Card . "

pool, recently I took part in a contest & won for myself $20 taxi vouchers & if I wish to use them, I must 1st let the cabby know beforehand right..

wau ambulance, go lucky har... win $20 voucher.... if use voucher, no need to ask cabby first... just polite to inform him first... but if you scared cabby dont like, save it for peak hr or after midnite... cabby will accept whatever payment mode then... haha...

actually the taxi voucher I won is from the spot the citycab which got that F1 ad then submit via sms & didn't expect to win but was hoping to actually..
i no go out after midnite one so the best is to save it for peak hrs like you say but the only thing is that I'm not sure if cabbies are sure of that contest that I took part in..

Just do what i say : Got onboard , tell your destination , at the end of the journey , pay whatever u want , cash , nets , mastercard etc .... corporate card or voucher .
I was told during my comfort course , MUST accept any mode of payment approve by Comfort . NO question asked !!

voucher no need any machine , just a pen will finish the job .
in the event refuse to accept any form of approved payment mode , they will be penalised by demerit points , too many complaints also can cause driver to be suspended .

pls loh, every few days i will tio those cb cab drivers tell me machine spoil cannot accept nets or card loh. now somemore wan use ez link...

take my cab... i accept everything... as long as machine not down...sometimes really down bo pian

got a few times tio those k k tell me dunno how to use ... then bo pian no cash then die die try to swipe de....

Really ah...? Like that hor...very dangerous if I dun bring cash.....thinking that I will pay by Nets instead. Looks like there are improvments to be made.
