Extortion?

  I met this cabby driver who shared with me that he had 1 customer who relate this incident to him: -

   

  This customer flagged down a game 1 night (after MN)..It was 1 of those more "posh looking" taxis (Those recent MPV lookalike cabs)..Once he board the cab, the cab driver told him : "$50 per trip"

   

  The customer was shocked & he even retort back : "it doesnt even cost that much if i made a call booking + trip fee"

   

  Cab Driver : "then go book a cab then"

   

  What astonished me was that the cab driver really drove off!?!

   

  Reminder to myself : Never ever board those MPV lookalike cabs =.='''

  dont let one black sheep ruin the reputation of the rest.

  pirate cabs are all around but not as rampant as last time. not happy dont take lor.

  that person is not my friend..

   

  this incident is told to me by 1 cab driver..

   

  but then, i thought only cab drivers in places like msia or indo will resort to this kind of unreasonable charges..BUT..in sg???!

   

  there are alot of nasty cab drivers around..an undeniable fact..bt there are lots of nice cab drivers also.. =D who always share stories with me whenever i took cabs around s'pore (due to work)

   

  met a few uncles before who don't charge me for the few cents or $1+..can even tell me that "take it as that uncle treat u drink kopi" =D

   

  BRAVO to nice cab drivers...

  i used to take cab as my primary transport n i've nv encounter such nice cabbies b4.

  only got a few irritating ones round UP the fares without my approval.

  sidenote: pls lor McD or KFC meal the 5c i ask the auntie keep lor. taking cab, sometimes i ask the unker keep the change, $1+ like that la, if overshot by $1+ see if the unker let lor. cuz i lazy keep coins la, make my wallet big and spoil the leather. somemore when i take cab means i in a rush, so dun want to put the coins in.

   

  that prev customer must be look like a foreigner thats why the prev driver think he make a quickie.

  this is wat I refer to as "touting" & those cabbies being caught must have some punishment given to them..

  Eh..who won't mind being getting charged lesser?

   

  What I referred to as "Extortion" is becuz the cab driver quote him $50 st. away..

   

  Though I took cabs frequently, but till date, I've nvr encounter cab fees of $50..Max is only $30..

  I usually give more than the fare consider the weight of the coins...

  but I don't consider that as extortion, i would call that touting...

  is as gd as extortion =(

  cab driver still drove off..LOLs..after that guy told him that he would rather make a booking..

   

  i wonder how many black sheeps are out there...
