wish the old lappie didn't die on my when Vista was the norm..
I'm definitely not getting Mac.
Macs are good for looking at, and little else. The build quality is rubbish. It seems as though their designer doesn't know the basics of good engineering design.
FS had a MacBook Pro. Within two months there was a huge dent in one corner of the screen from a light knock against a concrete wall. And since it's a 'cosmetic damage', they refused to repair it.
Within three years a big crack appeared right down the center of the screen.
I need to shop around for a PC soon.

They are good at making intuitive and ergonomic designs, but the quality of the materials is awful. For all of Jonny Ive's talk about 'craftsmanship' the recent Apple products are so flimsy that they need protective covers - which defies the purpose of making them thin and light.
I just have to be defensive as someone who's trained in ID.

The only good thing I have to say about the MBP is the magnetic power plug. If you accidentally trip over the wire, the MBP is less likely to crash onto the floor.
Anyway, there's no need to get defensive. A good industrial designer knows that form is useless without good materials. Maybe their design would have worked if they had used aircraft-grade titanium. But apparently they forgot about this little detail.
Macs are sexy young things, but I can't handle their fragility. I need a workhorse.
my MBP is the older version.. Apple made them pretty tough at that time...
but recently it's having some heat issues.. but i don't tax it that much these days.. just low-level piracy.. ahahahahaha... and a few other things..
still pissed off it won't read my android phone...
btw, the old iMac which runs OSX Tiger? Apple stopped supporting it and almost nothing, including shit like online videos don't run on it anymore
There's a designer/ID blogger who denies being an Apple fanboy but he thinks the company isn't in decline yet. And one of the "plus points" he noted is that the newer OSes run on the old machines. I'd love to quote what you just said to contradict him.

the newer OS will run on the old machines.. if you buy the newer OS to install in the older machines for a couple hundred bucks
but the older OS won't run anything and OSX Tiger isn't that old to start with..

But don't get Windows 8 for your next machine either unless you enjoy switching between the mouse and touching the screen and back - just to open a menu.

that's what it does now?

Apple is in decline, period.
Maybe they won't crash and burn tomorrow, but their star is fading, and Samsung et al are glowing brighter and brighter.
Right now Apple is relying solely on the goodwill of the iSheeps.... I mean, fans who will take no pay leave to queue up for a new product without even reading the reviews.
But even that goodwill is drying up. Lots of iSheeps have been crying bloody murder at the iPhone 5.

The Grand Prix has been marred by 2 separate fatal accidents in the space of less than 24 hrs.
RIP
wtf!!!!!!
Muller makes a blinding rolling start and takes lead from Huff.
The front 6 cars made it through, but the remaining cars got stuck behind a pile-up.
Huff showed him who's boss and an EXTREMELY late-braking move surprised Muller into giving him space at the hair-pin.
3 corners later, Huff's car suddenly sported a broken front bumper and started crabbing and wobbling. DNF!
A few laps later, Menu and Muller started rubbing and the brand-new Honda was harassing both of them. At one point, Muller got tapped into a spin, but fortunately everybody survived.
And the new Honda gets a 3rd! Amazing race. I look forward to seeing the Honda in 2013.
Crazy crazy race.
Suddenly all 3 chevy drivers are now in title contention once again for race 2.
Where's KB....
Race 2 is a MUST WATCH

Window's alternate product curse..
Win XP was good, Vista was shyt...
Win 7 was good... I shall skip Win 8... It's more to be suited for a phone or tablet...

The next big thing will enter the market quietly (or maybe it already has) and take many people (those who aren't early adopters) by surprise. And I don't think it'll come from Samsung. It might be one of the Nexus gadgets.

Nexus?
As in Google Nexus? Those are from Samsung as well
I initially wanted the first gen Nexus with customised engraving but it was too expensive back then

Woops. Shows you how much I know... I thought they were LG/Google products.
