given the direction the country is headed and the changes they made to the medical classifications for national servicemen, we'd probably be doing our unborn children a huge favour by not having them at all

freedom gone is only when you marry the wrong woman

true true...
it's pretty pathetic but it's true..
someone was just commenting to me another day, when you marry a person, you're really marrying their entire extended family.
so the important thing is, no matter how nice the person is, if their family and relatives are bloody psychos, you'd better look for someone else
and this is especially true for women. too many women have ended up with nasty in-laws and husbands too weak to stand up to their own parents.
tskkk...?
I'm having serious dejavu over here...
It's like I'm remember seeing all this then posting this reply...
But I dun remember that I'll be going on a rampage in kiseki later
and LF... coming to suntec for?

And HDB flats are supposed to be PUBLIC HOUSING ! pua cb.
well ... the alternative would be the goverment let you go tikam and the one sized flat you get would be your lot till you die or upgrade to private housing ?
and I don't think COVs are a speculator's thing, since you can only own one HDB at a time, and must live in it for 5 years before flipping it. And remember, during the property market doldrums, people's gripes were, ironically, about the low prices then.
Imagine you're a 5 room flat owner right now, who bought your place years ago, and reared your children there, now that your children's grown up and fled the nest, you decide to cash out and flip the flat for a smaller unit that's easier to clean and use the money to travel around the world. And the market falls out from beneath your feet because premiums are outlawed, or prices are artificially capped, what happens ?
like I said, public housing in singapore has to operate within the free market context because they constitute 80% of the housing supply. Looking at the public tenements and micro condos of hong kong, I'm convinced that things would be a lot worse if the HDB weren't around.
Mind you, I'm not saying this only cos I got my BTO and am happy; I was pretty impressed when I went through my CEHA and agents training and have to plough through what the HDB have done. Every other clause was "Singapore Citizens only". Could they have done a better job in the past couple of years managing the property market ? yes they could have. Are they doing something about it, within the context of the free market ? yes they are. Could it have been worse otherwise ? Absolutely.

no wonder some of my lady friends just refused to move into the in-laws big houses. but they analysised, should the parents in law "died", they would secured themselves the house & $ (when the house is sold eventually) (if the husband has only 1 or 2 siblings, even better, bigger pie)..
.. so they need not marrying the entire extended family, but they are making sure that they hit the right jackpot, thus security future $assets, of course they might say goodbye to their hushand later, only when the money secured..... they called it the long term plan ... this is one wrong woman huh....??
this was applied to FT ladies who eagerly got married here too..

well .... my folks wanted fatumnette to move in with us after we get hitched ....
but I don't think it's a really good idea ...
one kitchen can have only one woman ....
thinking of it... now we be pissed when pple asking for 50K.
probably we bought the flat and next time COV has to be 80K and above (market all practicing like that) .. pple will be pissed with us liao...
or worse, 5 years down the road, COV is not able to practice, we cannot claim $ when we sell our flats, so are we going to blame pple up there for disabling the practice and we cannot earn money anymore..?

If I didn't have to buy my place at a highly inflated price with COVs in the first place, this wouldn't even be an issue. You're essentially saying that bad practices need to continue because they've already started a negative spiral with regards to profit making and nobody wants to lose out.

pple would say, they need the COV for renovating the next place they arestaying..
some of them need the COV for urgent matters.. so they have to sell their flats, especially if it is good location.

it'll only be a temporary measure regardless, till our new flat comes.
But I really enjoy her place though. when you wake up in the morning and the sun is rising over the sea and the breeze is picking up .....
marine parade is really the best HDB estate in singapore.
