i use the office document black clip as seatbelt clip.

Are we talking about the clips for buckling the seat belt, or those that keep it loose by clipping at the reel end? It's very dangerous and I wouldn't want any of you to risk your lives by doing that.

Unless i am the passenger, otherwise i will use a belt clip

because in a car crash, the loose bit allows you to move forward and then the seatbelt is suddenly engaged.. it will then tighten immediately causing even greater whiplash..
if it was nice and snug, the seatbelt holds you in place without the sudden deceleration and the injury if any is a lot less

If you give the seatbelt a sharp jerk, it locks temporarily. That function stops your chest from hitting the steering wheel in a crash, and making the belt too loose (like some cabbies I've seen) negates the purpose of the lock.
Even making it a little looser also means that your chest will take a bigger force from the belt itself. It's physics.
