if they know you are trying to do that, they'll keep piling stuff on you...
just do what you are able to, and go home on the dot.. tell them you need someone to hand everything over to... and also email them with the aforementioned "return receipt"
and if they do not, give them a reminder again with that return receipt of the email..
after that, if they still don't bother or do not give you enough time to hand over properly, not your beezwax at all..
you can walk away and they will have no recourse..
there's never "too many" in my dictionary...

Last job, I also try to finish as much work as possible .. HR job is never ending .. but I tried to do as much as I could .. I was still working at 6pm on the last day .. I only took like 2 hours before that to go round to say my goodbyes to my colleagues..

Yes .. if they are entitled to sick leave .. which according to the employment act, they should be .. but if they're on probation, maybe not..
