I don't call that tasty at all
So it's like what I said.... You taste nothing but spice -_-"
I prefer more subtle flavours
I like my chilli but I don't like food that is drenched in chilli and spice and you taste nothing else
That is also one reason why I don't really enjoy Sichuan food
i dun mind having that bbq sichuan ma-la chicken...it is so savoury..
my lips went numb after that...and i am still happy !
Btw Fatum the reason why Indians find a lot of food tasteless is because they consume so much spice and chilli till their tastebuds are like numb
That is why they tend to stick to their own food because everything else is "bland"
Which is also a reason why you don't see many Indians eating Japanese food
actually, I think the chilli opens up your taste buds, and you can taste the food much better .....
I like my food fiery, rich and complex .... the two exceptions being fresh crustaceans and mollucs ....

hot hot
say, want to challenge 麻辣锅 one of these days ? ...

they do nothing to your taste buds actually..
what they do is that they destroy the sense of smell.. so much so that you cannot taste anything beyond the normal "sweet, sour, bitter and salty"
which is why people tend to sneeze as they have a whiff of things like pepper and chilli powder.. to remove from the nasal passages.. and if you keep eating that stuff, the nose tries to minimise the damage by throwing up a pile of mucus to not let the spices wreck your sense of smell...
if you keep going the way of the fiery food, you will eventually lose all sense of "taste" which is actually your sense of smell.. you'll only have the 4 tastes which is from your tastebuds

It's only true to a certain extend
If you take it for prolong periods... you will find most food tasteless

on the contrary. it dulls the senses.
this is great - i'm typing this in darkness. lights went out and in came the buzzing sound.

This goes back to my story on why most Indians find food tasteless
