  monetary incentives only work on stupid people.

   

  fact is, if people really want do to have children they will find a way to do so one, regardless of their circumstances.

  the stupid people are easy to convince... and hoodwink...

  the gabrament has never cared about quality of life.. they just want enough people to drive the economy... and too many smart people around means the MIW are out of a job.. so they try to increase the number of stupid maladjusted people in singapore

  Actually to have more children it's not the $$ that is the push factor

  Of course money helps but what is more important is the quality of life and also the flexibility of the workplace and also is quality and affordable childcare available la

  Not everyone have the luxury of living close to their parents

  Not everyone have parents who can take care of the kids

  Not everyone have supportive employers... this is especially important since a lot of employers seem to like to discriminate against mothers and pregnant women.

   

  I think once they stop the work discrimination and are more open to flexi-hours, more people will be willing lor

  Can you imagine coming home late from work and still need to teach the kid and what not >.<"

  oh.. back to reality.. the gabrament doesn't get it at all..

  in places like Sweden, where the FATHER can actually end up with about 450 days of leave in a year to take care of a sick child as part of their paternity leave, they still have a fricken low birth rate..

  it is part of being part of being a developed nation..

  also, hasn't someone figured out that something has to give if the economy is driven by how much and how fast we consume things?  the increase in population is necessary only because increase in population = increase in consumption = increase in economy = to sustain that growth we need.. increased population...

  now.. that's a death spiral if i ever saw one..
