  Precisely what I was thinking. 

  I mean, why would it have to be an acquired taste if it's really that good?  Nobody, not even babies and animals, have any difficulties getting 'addicted' to sugar and honey.  It's 'easy' to like them, you don't have to 'learn' how to like them, don't have to tolerate liking them.

  I think it's just an industry where the Emperor's New Clothes theory comes into play - a long, long time ago, someone (vineyard owner, maybe) decided, out of self-interest, to put out the word that if you're classy, learned, rich, whatever, you'll love wine, and so everyone else, in a bid to be associated with the classy, rich and learned pack, decided to fake it and like wine! 

  I mean, alcohol... if you really love alcohol, you'd also just as quickly love Dettol or one of those hospital-grade cleaning detergents because they reek of alcohol too!

  Speaking of upper class, you know what sort I admire most?  People who are filthy rich, but just by looking at them and their frugal lifestyle, you'll never ever guess. 

  I've come across a few of them working in a private hospital here.  Humble, but yet, really really rich.  They do not have the material trappings of wealth, they do not flaunt their wealth, and neither are they anxious to show-off that they are rich and in the upper class.  These are people I truly truly admire and respect. 

  Recently, at the GP's, I met an elderly couple, well-dressed and neat, and from their mannerisms, you can guess that they are probably really well-off too.  But they were humble, smiling at everyone, even making small talk to the obviously down-and-out people in the waiting area.  Now, being humble, having a love for people of all classes, THAT is class.
