Can you live without your cellphone?

Heard this topic on the radio today. A listener called in to say his 17-year-old sister showers with her cellphone because she's soooo afraid of missing any important calls. She even has her cellphone at the dinner table when they eat. One hand on the fork, the other clutching her cellphone.
Another listener says, her husband is always calling her on her cellphone throughout the day asking, "What are you doing? Where are you?" She feels like big brother is constantly watching her. But when they're home, she says they don't have much to say to each other.
I used to be tied to my cellphone but lately, not as much. I only have it when I head out, just in case there is a school emergency and the kids need me to pick them up or something. Other than that, I don't want to be reached. I cherish my alone time too much.
Funny how technology can really change your mindset.

Until I was forced to live without one after the last one spoilt.

I'm not that addicted to it, but I think we're all too used to the level of convenience it provides when you need to make plans with other people. Not to mention that it also saves your arse if you're not punctual or want to make last-minute changes - it's become *almost* acceptable now just as long as you text the other party.

Otherwise, I think I can live without my phone. Usually when I wake up, I leave my phone by the pillow while I go downstairs where I spend most of the day... (that also means I'm one of those buggers who reply to SMSes late

i have terrible SMS-etiquette. because it's so asspensive for mi to send SMS-es, i will only reply if i think i need to. and i wont pick up any calls if i dont recognize the number. cos i need to pay A LOT for incoming calls too. -
me once lost me fone for about 12 hours and i felt relli lost..
like bery disconnected from the world......
i left for work w/o my hp before...
was oredi on the train.....
i went back home to get it.....
but sometimes i will not pick up calls or reply sms bcos i dun feel like it....... -

my hp is my alarm, my clock, my contact list...
no hp
VERY late for work on a daily basis no sense of time; ppl already say i always late liao can't be contacted cos no house phone; no one know my office no. heck, i can't even rem my own office no! can't contact ANYONE cos i can't rem anyone's no, not even my parents' house no. >.<
but i'm not so extreme tat i have to go pee/poo/bath with it... -
For me, my hp served as a gaming device, a wifi browser and a mp3 player... so leaving home without it can be quite lost...
For phone calls and sms... do not make them as often as I did a few years back... -
Depends... if it's my day off and I don't wish for my workplace to call me in for extra shifts, then hell yeah, I can live without my mobile!
Or if someone's irritating me with sms or telemarketers are trying to contact you, then yup!
If I have a computer and good broadband connection, and a home phone, and I'm staying home, then yeah, cause I can keep in touch with my friends via other methods.
I have left the house without my cellphone a few times. I've lived! However, if you're on a date or meeting a friend, then I wouldn't be able to live without my mobile because you do need to confirm last minute details and what-not.
Funny... growing up, we didn't have such nifty gadgets and yet, we survived and people dated and got married too! -
Actually I think we planned our lives better without the cellphone
We make sure we are on time and not have any last min arrangements because we have to inform the other party prior.

Definitely. If not for my own lack of sense of direction and emergencies that always happen at the wrong time, I wouldn't need it.

I can't.....unfortunately...i can do without the calls and smses...but no no no...if i need to call someone up urgently over some stuff...it HAS to be with me...

Cannot, the handphone contains so much other contact numbers of people. I am lost w/o it. Especially when people are asking for help, and I couldnt supply any number.
Plus, I've certain contacts on that handphone, that I can always called to get things done instead of being physically handling the matter.
Its keeps my schedule and the reminders of when I need to pay bills or attend certain events. Even if there is no reception at some areas, I only feel safe with my handphone, radio, camera, diary with me.
And it functions as a torch sometimes, using it to illuminate when there is no light around. And its my clock, alarm & something solid in my fist for that added crunch needed when thwacking somethings. -

I store work documents and data on it to review when I have free time. -
impossible for me to forget my phone coz i use it as my entertainment device, so the moment i'm out....i'll need music
also use as alarm clock, watch so yeah its a necessary item for me

I'll probably be crippled without my handphone. Need it for both work and play. Just this morning I was running around the place and talking to like 5 different people on and off, just to get something done at work.
