Got any Christmas traditions?

Here in the States, many families have their own holiday traditions. I didn't really have any until my kids were older. When I was a teenager, the Hallmark shop was one of my favourite places to hang out after school. I would linger in the shop for hours!!! Buey pai seh one you know.
I love Christmas and trimming the tree so I guess this is how our tradition evolved. In my family, we get an ornament for each other from guess where? The Hallmark shop. Funny how life goes around in a circle.
I cannot tell you how many times we've had to sell our current tree to get a taller one just so we can fit all the ornaments. I told the kids, when they get married and have their own families, they can take their ornaments with them and continue the tradition. -
In Australia it's a tradition to get totally f*cked off your face on booze, eccies, and whatever else you can get your hands on. Merry Christmas!

I'm going to make what I did last year into a tradition, ie dress up the cat in funny x'mas decorations and take a photo to amuse ourselves, then tar bao some yummy food from Ding Tai Fung to eat at home.

We tied it tightly too
But somehow he managed to chew it to pieces and we thought he can't reach it -

when I was growing up we would occasionally open one gift on Christmas eve and the rest in the morning...not sure why exactly but I think it might have been my Grandmother's idea. Now that we're all grown up there's no more getting up early Xmas morning, we open them all on Xmas eve.
trouble is that my Mother insists that one person opens a gift and we all watch, then another person opens a gift and we all watch, and so on....it turns what should only take 15 min into a hours long process. -
