the social support system is incredible ... but there is wide abuse and in the end, the only people who benefits are those bums and low lives ....

The raw beans have to be trucked to the plant for cleaning and packed
The packed beans have to be loaded onto a container which is railed and pick up by truck to the plant, loaded and trucked and railed to the port
Then I ship it out

But As of today the vessels are so fucking full it's not funny
It usually takes a month to arrange for something to reach South East Asia
An order I placed 3 weeks ago has a shipment ETA for 1st week of Jan
And that is for prompt shipment
Keep in mind there has been no strikes or anything
Just port congestion and equipment shortage
And now that it is Christmas soon, I'm so bloody worried there will be strikes because the problem will just triple and explode in my face. -

end of the day pay wise its almost always a struggle betwwen how much the boss is willing to pay and how much the workers can get. Its just how much bargaining power each side has. -
you know, saskatchewan has more oil than alberta, but she's one of the poorer provinces .... I think one of the reason is because she's saddled with a HUGE social cost structure .....
there's the largest native population in canada, most of whom qualifies for welfare, even though the goverment pays each band or reservation a few million dollars in grants every year, most of it ends up in the pockets of chiefs ... whom you see swaggering around in hundred k dollar cheverolet monster trucks ....
the unfortunate ones end up in the ghettos of the cities, perpetuating cycles of alcohol and drug abuse, and single parent hood ... it's a vicious cycle, foetal alcohol syndrome is widespread ... which means that many kids are born mad and retarded right out of the womb .... you drive down the ghetto at 3am in the morning and you see 5-7 years old kids running around unsupervised ... climbing over cars ... running around in gangs, coming up to you to ask for smokes ....
just the other day I was driving pass a safeway supermarket when one young nat kid ran out full tilt out of the entrance ... chased by another store employee ... I nearly crashed into both of them ... no prize for guessing what has happened ... a friend of mine who works as a safeway manager in the ghetto section of the city tells me they get an average of 3 shop lifters caught A DAY ! ....
and these people get to university for free, they don't even have to attain the general entrance requirement, but compete against their own pool for their quota ... I could go on, but nevermind ... I'm coming back to a home where meritocracy rules .... -

It is not only how much the boss is willing to pay
But the output of the worker has to increase
If work output remains the same, costs goes up
And it ends up a vicious cycle too
The products get more expensive and their higher pay goes to the end product in the end as well
And when prices go too high up due to the cost of wages, the whole economy can lose it's competitive edge in the world economy and in the end you have supply but no demand
Ok maybe I'm going a bit extreme but that is what can happen -
went to beach road army surplus market to look for something quirky...
the shops there are now so homogenous
i loved it when the shops had all kinds of weird stuff like Godzilla table cig lighters and hip flasks... now it's all knock-off tees and keychains...
then my friend suggested i go to the bomoh shop and buy a toyol.. that'll be quirky enough
i wanted to go but he chickened out because that shop gives him the creeps -

on the other hand it could be the boss being unwilling to part with his profits. greed comes from every where.
thats why i'm saying don't only blame the workers/unions. though they should/could be at fualt too.
