yesterday, the clerks were archiving some documents by converting the word document into pdf files..

The test just now was a little on the shocking side.... the lecturer performed another stone cold stunner on us by setting a long question which he hadn't tested for years.
Yet another reason why spotting questions is a bad, bad idea.
I just hope I did that question correctly, though. -

oh yeah ... today ex dearling called me in the morning.... she was furious, cos all the staff at the university walked off their jobs .... liberians, clerical staff, janitors, the cafe workers, parking attendants, everyone, except the profs, walked off their jobs .... so she went to school groggy in the morning and couldn't get her morning kopi fix ...
she was being pressured by her boss at her library job to join in the strike, I told her she may get deported for that ... -

I remember reading a very interesting Reader's Digest article dealing with this issue many years ago... I think the name of the article is 'The Folly of UN Peackeeping' or something like that. I'll try to look for it when I have the time.
Among others, let's take the UN mission in Ethiopia... they actually spent US$100million++ on a single convention center in Addis Ababa which is empty most of the time.... and this, while UN peacekeeping personnel were quite literally passing the hat among themselves to help famine victims.
And the UN mission in Cambodia.... when they started spending on accomodation and living expenses, living expenses shot up and made it even more difficult for locals to live in their own country. -
