I thought most Singaporeans have steamboat for CNY's eve. But I have to agree, it involves a lot of preparation. It usually takes me a while to slice/strip the meat and marinade them etc....
There's a steamboat restaurant about 15min drive from my place so I usually go and buy the frozen dumpling (Shui Jiao not wontons) from them. Very nice.

For c0ckles, you can only put that in at the end if they are still in the shell. I love c0ckles. This is on my list (things I want to eat) when I visit Singapore during CNY.

I agree the soup is very nice, but it's not a full buffet...some items can only order like 2 or 3 plates....so it's out for gluttons. -

Seoul Gardens used to serve very good marinated beef and mutton cooked on the hotplate style.., like 10 years ago....at Marina Square...
