Is one meal per day good for the physical health? If its good, I think I wanna go for it. Also it save time and energy to look for makan, think about where to makan and all that...
It depends. Not everybody can take it. You may try but if you can't, don't force yourself. 慧律法师 is a good example. He said he took 1 meal a day for a long period and his health was damaged as he had some health history which made him not suitable for 1 meal a day. He gave up eventually. I understand some people can take it.
Here in Singapore cannot lah. Here is a food paradise. You have abundance of food here. Why bother to starve yourself?
anybody here got no money to eat so have to eat 1 meal a day?
no la, it's a buddhist fasting thingy. make the mind light for meditation. less vexation. if got work to do and need to take care of family, not sure it's encourage.
Just returned from Penang, Malaysia.I am so fuck up with that country.I was forced to eat less and lose some weight.

My health not that great. So I was thinking of a simple Buddhist solution to improve my health. One meal per day, seems like pretty neat solution.
慧律法师 my impression is he doesn't really encourage this practice...

For health reason. I wanna improve my health. One of the way to tweak our health, I think is from diet. At least thats one of the important factor. So, I want to use a simple Buddhist solution to improve my health. I think one meal per day might help. Buddha practice it, so it seems promising isn't it?

For me, its not about saving up. But to improve my health.

Middle age. Not young anymore. So wanna geng, try and find a way to improve the health, so as to practice as long as possible here on this earth. And die peacefully when I am real old, could just go take a nap and pass on, something like that.
Buddha practice one meal per day isn't it? It should be good for health... Never mind. I will try it for a 2-3 days, and see how it goes. The plan is simple. Morning, 1-2 cups beverages, plus breakfast. Afternoon, one meal, one beverage. Thats it. No more food or water intake until the next morning...
he realized that this was not the right path.........
Instead of one meal per day, you might wanna try two meals (One breakfast and another lunch). There are many ways to improve health though, you might want to first start on basic things like avoiding animal fats in your foods and exercising every day. Start off slowly with lighter meals and slowly condition your body throughout a period of time. Rushing apparently doesn't help at all.
do check on health conditions and dietitian where necessary....
health is more important towards what your vision will be
let it be good nutritive brakfast and lunch (for ex. meat + salad). For dinner try yogurt or some fruit. And, what is important, drink at list 2 litres of still water per day!!!!
Our body is a vehicle for our spiritual being to make progress. In my opinion, it is important to keep the body healthy though proper diet and regular moderate exercise so that the body remains strong to sustain life force and vitality in order to meditate and serve humanity.
I for one, will never take 1 or 2 meals a day unless it is for very short term cleansing purpose. I believe in eating healthily and do regular exercise as to avoid sickness. So far, so good. I can meditate and work regularly.
It would be great if I can reduce my thoughts to one a day.
If you have that one meal at night, and then go to sleep, it is not good. As the energy consumed is not used and will be converted to fat.
It is better to have tiny wholesome meals through out the day.
Buddhism practice is not about endure starvation. If starving can lead to liberation, there are many people lack of foods or on starving in the world attained complete liberation. 2 meals for breakfast and lunch a day or two per week to try and tiny wholesome meals through out the day are very great workable approach.
