佛教徒禁看异教的书籍吗？

  佛教徒�看异教的书��？

  圣严法师著述

  在原则上，�但��止，甚至还鼓励。因为佛教相信，佛教的信仰是�乎�性的，凡是信仰佛教并且已对佛法有了相当程度的认识之�，纵然�他改信其 他的宗教，也是办�到的。所以，异教的任何宣传，对于一个正信的佛教徒而言，是足够接�考验而无法动摇他的信心的，�因佛教�是独断信仰的宗教，所以�� 定异教的应有价值。佛教将化世的法门分为五乘，人天乘便是五乘的基础，是一切法门的共通法门，也是一切宗教与哲学的共通善法。因此，佛教对一切异教的�典 书�，除了那些武断�迷信���情�的部分之外，都会给予它们应有价值的肯定。

  �时，一个正信的佛教徒，应当也是一个佛法的传布者，对于弘扬佛法的技术�说，为了使得异教徒们改信佛教，或者为了摄化那些正在徘徊于佛教�异教信仰

  之间的人们�归�佛教，对于宗教比较学的知识，乃是�常��的。如果�能说出佛教的信仰优胜于其他宗教的信仰，岂能使人心悦诚�地信仰佛教？所以，一个�想的佛教徒，应该�具备若干程度的异教知识。（注�三）

  当然，对于一个�信佛教的人�说，研究异教的义�是没有必�的，所以佛教主张学佛有余，�以用三分之一的时间去看外书，�则，自顾�暇，那有闲工夫去研读异教的书�呢？

  注å��三：å��诵律å�·ä¸‰å…«ä½›è¨€ï¼š‘从今为破外é�“故，诵读外é�“书。’根本æ�‚事å�·å…­ä½›è¯´ï¼š‘ä¸�应愚痴，少慧ä¸�分明者令习外书，自知明慧多闻，强识能催外é�“者，方å�¯å­¦ä¹ ã€‚’‘当å� ä¸‰æ—¶ï¼Œæ¯�于二时佛ç»�，一时习外典。’‘于日åˆ�分å�Šä»¥ä¸­å�Žï¼Œå�¯è¯»ä½›ç»�，待至晚时，应披外典。’

  an open mind leads to greater enlightenment so as to learn more from another world or beliefs....but that does not mean diminishing one's firm belief but to enhance or embrace with higher understanding....

  but this requires the elimination of bias

  Agree. But what I had highlighted is this:

  sometimes when we had too much or focusing too long of one thing....its good to take a breather by looking out at other things...

  and all of a sudden....a flash may thunder through an unresolved problem u r working at....

  it happens to many of the inventions and beliefs around us....

  the Prince left the extreme ascetic ways through his new insights of the right path....and through the nourishment from the milk rice given by a sheperd till he became strong again from a gaunt skeleton....he realized that his past luxury and his life of mortification as useless......the Middle Path was born.....likened to a loose stringed or over taut ....

  I agree. Absolutely.

  But first of all... one has gotta focus on the one thing for sometime isn't it? Before we talk about the breather, where the flash may occur.

  This is correct dandy ! as 自顾ä¸�暇，那有闲工夫去研读异教的书ç±�呢？ Once you enlightened, this 异教的书ç±� will become 佛教 as well  佛乃觉也

  Buddhism does not prevent anyone from learning the teachings of other religions. In fact, the Buddha encouraged His followers to learn about other religions and to compare His Teachings with other teachings. The Buddha says that if there are reasonable and rational teachings. The Buddha says that if there are reasonable and rational teachings in other religions, His followers are free to respect such teachings.

  surely..focus can also be a lifetime.....but breathers or "rest while working" in between is smart focus....perhaps.... ;p ....the Prince is definitely smarter than the die hard ascetics....isn't it?...
