Hi Rooney9,
Even if your ego, anger and stubborness is increasing everyday, it is still worthwhile to be vegetarian... i would even go on to say that even if you become a very self-righteous sitting on a high moral horse person due to your feeling of being proud of your pure diet, it is still worthwhile to be vegetarian.
The benefits far outweigh any possible negative sides... imagine yourself as the animal being slaughtered, last minute, someone save your life... what would you feel? Do you think it is an insignificant thing?
Being vegetarian is nothing special or worth to be proud of... in the past, when technology and society not so developed, we did not exploit and prey on animals and take meat like we do today... it is something added on due to our present day society greed and trend. So if something negative is added on, removing it away does not mean you are great or specially good or virtuous, i think it returns one to balance, that's all..
On the other hand, if one does not do anything, then this negative addition tips the balance off and one day, the karmic feedback will come to correct the situation. Do you believe in karma? Then you shouldn't need to think too much about this issue.
Wisdom and taming the negative afflictions in the mind has to come through mindfulness, that is the main way. Vegetarianism is also a manifestation of mindfulness if i may say so. We are mindful of all beings, not only of our own comfort and happiness... if you are only concerned about yourself, in the end, even in normal worldly life, you will end up lonely, bitter and sad.
Undercover operation.. 0:46 onwards to witness the 'grinding' process.
