Buddhist monks sheltered persecuted Christians http://www.ucanews.com/2010/07/15/buddhist-monks-sheltered-persecuted-christians/
I was quite touched by this... but please note that i'm not trying to put any side on the pedestal, or glorifying... just feel that for once it is nice when people just look past their differences and see a much greater picture.
Ah, that's the real Buddhist spirit. no worry, i'm touched too. i don't even mind if u do glorify the other side if they ready did something out of Real compassion.
we Buddhists should have more heart of tolerance 包容心。use virtue to touch others 以德人. Not to have discrimination, we are all human. 凡是人,皆须爱. they opposite, let them be. if we also opposite, we are not much better than them.
Be like Maitreya Bodhisattva, 大肚能容, 容天下難容之事 The big belly can contain, embracing matters difficult to withstand in this world.
we said ç”Ÿä½›å¹³ç‰ Sentient being and Buddha are Equal. we don't say 佛生平ç‰. Buddha respect sentient being so much that He even put the word 生sentient being in front of Him. :)
Buddha never say He's above everyone and unreachable. He said we all have Buddha nature. we are all suppose to become Buddha.

we don't want to be like the above. it's no better. it need two hand to clap. this side opposite that side, that side opposite this side, never ending one.
they want to be number one, we want to be number zero, where got any conflict? :)

When we let go of "I', of tribalism and see sentient beings as they are; fellow sufferers.
As long as cling to "I" and identify I, Ourselves to Others, sure intolerance will ensue.
As long as we see it as a struggle between Us(be it religion , race or creed or class etc.) and Them, Other, a rift exist. Too often, moi included, are guilty of tribalism, as we attach identity label on ourselves(I am a Singaporean, Buddhist, Christian, Muslim, Taoist, etc.) and then; others.
It is useful if we wish to preserve our society ,our values and way of life, if we are engaged in some sort an inevitable violent struggle to have such an identity, but why let it get to that stage in the first place?!
Sometimes it all seem so natural that we are not even aware of it, as we fail to see the individual in the person, and lump them together with others in the same label as others: evil, radical, fundamentalist.
