  Thanks to someone asking about mantras, I stumbled upon this webpage on: 

  A Pictorial Biography of the Venerable Master Hsu Yun

  Venerable Master Hsu Yun was born in 1840 and lived to 120 years of age, living through age-old Qing dynasty in China, through turbulent China, through the japanese occupation, and communist revolution. He endured lots of bitter hardship throughout his life and rebuilt many monasteries back to order.
