Hi,
In the Great Compassion Sutra, at the end of the sutra, Buddha told Ananda regarding the use of all different types of Mudra.
eg. For various diseases in abdomen, use the Precious Bowl Mudra,
for vanquishing all heavenly demons and deities, use the Vajra Mudra.
What is the meaning of these ? And how do we practise them ?
Anybody pls advice.

The Mudras of Great Compassion Dharani Warning: These pictures are for reference only, and the transliteration of the mantra of each Mudra is inaccurate. If you wish to learn them correctly, you need a qualified teacher. However, reading, reciting, or chanting the Great Compassion Dharani without forming the Mudras are absolutely safe and very benefic, and being practiced worldwide by monks, nuns and laypersons. |

Mudras are hand seals or gestures, used during chanting, to symbolise certain meanings.

Hi,
I don't understand.
So, in the picture it shows the hand is carrying a sword, whisk or pearl.
So, we are going to form similar gesture by holding a sword, whisk or pearl when reciting the Great Compassion mantra ?
In practicality how do we practise them ?

Hi Riccia,
As weychin says, it is necessary to rely on a teacher. I think Ven Hsuan Hua of Thousand Buddhas City has a lineage on these thousand hand, thousand eyes practice. Not sure it is similar to this but i think so. You should learn it from his lineage disciples. They may have a lot of practical info / experience to share with you, for eg. certain mudras should not be used casually. You could get into a lot of trouble that no-one will care to extricate you from later on.
