Is it due to Karma?

  If you are being slashed or beaten up for no reason by people outside, is it due to past life feud with the perpetrators. probably in your many lifetime ago, you did them wrong, or even beaten or slashed them.

  sorry but that kind of explanation sounds quite naive.

  like 'i win 4d now cos in my past life i gave 4d to another person who striked in the 11th century'

  not to say bad about the dharma, its ok if u mention law of karma, but we won't know exactly the cause and effect. its not like always a definite cause gives a definite effect.

  Karma is not 1+1 = 2 and is not as simple as ABC. Is this a cause or an effect? Only people who are enlightened will be able to see their past lifes. People like us will never know the truth behind.

  If you were to observe around you, you will notice Karma that need not wait till next life are :

  1) defame and kill the Sangha - recently there is a case but don't ask me to elaborate.

  2) ill treat parents

  Yes there is such karmic causes... of course other than karma there are other factors and conditions as well.

  How karma is being 'calculated' and 'repaid' is extremely complex, and our every action of every minute can add/reduce our overall 'karma balance'. Personally, I don't feel it's necessary to find out every single case, unless for very exceptional and important cases. Even if someone's life was originally planned to end early, ie. he/she was planned to die young from an accident or something, because of previous deeds, he/she can still avoid that outcome in this life.

  One's life will be much more fulfilling if we focus on improving our present and future, rather than on the past. We can change our present and future to be better, but we can't change the past.
