I'm sure some of us have received newsletters or pamplets with Buddha's image.. I'm just wondering what is the proper way to dispose these items with Buddha's image or Sangha's image?
as long as u have a clear conscience and no bad intentions, do what u deemed is right.
icic... is there any methods?
For example burning or just throwing into the dustin?
u can either smelt it, or bring to the buddhist temples for disposal.
If someone doesn't have true belief or faith, covering his entire house with symbolic pictures or items makes no difference. If he has true heart, he only needs his heart.

I usually burn them away or put them at the altar @ my house or return to temple or give them to someone else.
When I'm young (primary school), I read the whole of 18th level hell book, and one of the story is about a person who actually disrespect the Gods by throwing them away purposely etc etc... I feel it's more towards Taoism but I took the book from a temple.

What if it is a statue of a buddha , pu sa or arhat ? Buddhism temples dont take in buddhism statues.
1 or 2 months ago, I saw a portrait of guan yin and her disciples ( a boy and a girl ) under a tree. A taoism type of portrait. I wanted to place it in a buddhism temple.I call one buddhist temple, they told me to try my luck on a taoism temple nearby them. Haiz......
I thought of bringing it home to house the portrait, in the end i did not , for fear of inviting spirits. Dont know if i have create bad karma for not housing the portrait anot. Haiz....
Before this incident happens , I already tried to look for an answer liao. But then, sometimes it is hard to put it in action.
What if next time such thing happen again ?

Do not incinarate it with other trash ( so buy a new incinerator ) , but alone , and as they burn, recite the mantra OM AH HUM. As the smoke rises, visualize that it pervades all of space, carrying the essence of the Dharma to all sentient beings in the 6 samsaric realms, purifying their minds, alleviating their sufferings, and bringing them all happiness, up to and including enlightenment. Some people might find this practice a bit unusual, but it is given according to tradition.
I got the info from Amitahba Buddhist Centre. I did the above before too.
Well normally I will either bring to Kong Men San Recycle kisok or burn it off in a respectful manner by chanting Namu Myo Ho Renge Kyo (NMHRK)
If is a blessed statue.....
Which happened to my family before. We were left with my passed on brother collection of Thai amulet and statue such as Kun Man Tong, Kun Pean etc. We brought the collection before the altar. We recited the Lotus Sutra & NMHRK. We report our intention to disposed the collection to the Buddha as the owner has passed on. Subsequently, we delicate the merits of the recitation to those spirit residing in the collection. When we are at the sea, we just chant NMHRK repeatedly as we put them into the sea. We wish them well and happiness. We pray for their safe return to the source by the sea.
I think most buddhist master will recommend burning, disposal in the sea or burial. The latter is not visible due to urbanisation. I think if one dispose the religious object in a proper manner it should be fine.
Personally, if one is Pali pro chant pali sutta, same goes with tibetan, mahanyana and so on. At the end, I don't think what one chant matter. It is the Dharma essence cum our sincerity which are the most important factor. At least, it will not incurred the warth of Dharma protector and create a negative karma for the future.
