What Bike do You Ride?

Let's hear it folks....I'm just wondering if hardtails are more popular or dual suspension bikes....
Let me start...I have a 1999 Trek 6700 (hardtail) that I bought first-hand for a deal, since the bike came with avid disc brakes. Haven't had the money to buy alot of parts as yet, but I changed out the Bontrager tyres (AC Jones....yucks) to Panaracer Smoke/Dart combo. As for the rest, my crankset, handlebar, seatpost and saddle is still Bontrager...sigh....
My wish list: (or rather, miracle list, since I'll need one to afford all these
)
Thomson stem and seatpost, Raceface Prodigy crankset and bottom bracket, Easton carbon-fibre handlebar, XT front and rear shifters, Cane Creek headset, Oury lockjaw grips, and 2004 Duke Race fork....sigh....

GT is quite a reputable company when it first came out with its mountain bike series in 1991. That was when they had that unique "U" brake for the rear, and that patented "triple triangle" construction. I had the GT Karakoram model. It was still made in Japan, but subsequently the rest of GT bikes were made in Taiwan.
GT itself underwent several changes I think. They nearly went bankrupt at one point, and their market share gradually dwindled as new competitors entered the MTB market...Specialized, Trek, Kona, etc... -

Yes I did see that...
But Koolstop also makes ordinary V-brake pads also you know...and Avid does make V-brakes as well....
How long does Koolstop brakepads last? -

erm how much does a decent MTB now cost? decent as in those normal kind..haven modfied type..
i've got a Wheeler MTB for $300...but some1 broke my lock and stole it when i parked it outside the gym
my budget is about $400....so how? -
Say you save up another $100, I think you can get urself a Trek 4100. (Try Cheap John's bike store) Its a decent MTB. V-brakes, RST suspension fork, Shimano Alivio (I think) gears, and decent Bontrager parts.
But buy a good lock this time!! I would suggest you buy a U-lock. Its heavy, but very reliable. Couple that together with a cable loop and you got yourself a secure bike. A good brand is Kryptonite.... -

Its called Cheap John's Bikes. Its located along Sembawang Rd. Take MRT all the way to Sembawang station, get off and take a free shuttle bus service to Sembawang shopping centre. Yah, previously, Trek only came up with the 4300, but the demand for a lower-end recreation MTB drove them to make the 4100...in fact there are even lower models than that...just look at their website and you'll see:
