What makes a good officer ?
caramon says: Prestige, authority, distinguish.. thats what separate an officer from its man.. so what makes an officer? character? intelligent?
He must be a cut above his man.. capable, good leadership, a strong personalities.. But what makes a man with strong personality.. i mean its so general...
Not only must he process integrity, being calm in catastrophe situation is a must.. to lead his team in most absurd condition, he must be cool-headed, firm and decisive.. even then, will he be a good officer? No..
A good officer not only must have those criteria, he have to be flexible as well.. rules and regulation are fixed.. but in hash situation, it may not go down well with his man.. a leader without the rapport from his man is useless..
Man is like a tools to you.. you need to know when to use which tool.. take care of the tools and preserve it, making it in tip-top condition..so that in times of crisis, it will not fail you..
To me, all those qualities are superficial.. what really distinguish a good officer from others, must process self-motivation.. morale is something you can't do without.. to be able to self motivate, and pass on to the man is what a good officer should process..

Its not just a story.. Its about Peter.
caramon says: Peter comes from a well-to-do family.. since young, he got what he wants.. He's cute although fat.. he's spoilt, but friendly.. all of us is envy of him..
After high school, peter is desperate to get a GF since he never have one.. ya , its easy, u said.. since he's rich.. but the problem is, how the hell ,gals know he's rich? i mean you don't go flaunting your wealth to strangers... right !!
He is lonely at night, friends went out with him because he's rich.. he don't consider them as friends.. just someone to accompany him when he's bored.. but he wants more than that... he needs love..
The main reason is, he doesn't drive.. Not because of money but he's scare to drive.. when he's 18, his father often force him to take his driving lesson.. without fail, dad will drive him there , only for him to fail the test..
He's that determine not to get his driving license that dad got so fed-up with him.. they got into a big arguement and sometimes, you feel that the tie between them just isn't the same..
Peter hold's a conversation pretty well, sad to say, its only with guys.. when face with a gal he likes, he begin to flutter, and you know.. gals don't like this kind of guys..
Soon, peter indulge himself into prostitution, to get all the love he needs.. yes thats not love, but we will never know what he went thru.. i mean we all found love before, but not Peter...
For someone who lives in private estate, had what he wants in his life, a great future waiting for him, but in the end scumble to love with a prostitute.. whatever money he have, he hand it all to her.. she 's all that he have.. thats what he thought..
Its only time before his familiy found out.. to know the disgrace he had done to the families.. they had a hugh quarrel, and peter was on the way out of his home.. he feel sad.. of course he don't want things to end this way..

Being poor in singapore sucks.
caramon says: I feel that people from poor families are unfair in certain aspect.
Being rich their parents can afford them a better environment to nuture them.Be it a capital for them to start a new business, or a downpayment for a new car. parents pay for their oversea education even if they are stupid for a degree in local uni. After that, they go back to army as white horse status and do nothing till they ORD and get a better job because of their degree.
For poor people, with only a diploma or less, they have to start at the bottom or even worse. The pay sucks and even after working for many years we might not be able to reach the level of the degree holder. The poor that study private U, will have to pay themselves and sometimes take 2 to 3 jobs just to sustain the course fees.
On top of all this grief, we still have all the crap about local ladies being judgemental of us poor guys. Give the poor a break and just admit that if the person is poor and lowly educated, he's not worth the time. so ladies, spare them the excuses.
So you see, being poor in singapore doesn't help at all. just try to take care of our health, as medical care is getting more expensive by the day. medisave is enough if we don't get sick often.

QUESTION #4: How does he/she treat other people? The one most important thing that makes any relationship work is the ability to give. By giving, we mean the ability to give another person pleasure. Ask: Is this someone who enjoys giving pleasure to others or are they wrapped up in themselves and self-absorbed? To measure this, think about the following:
i) How do they treat people whom they do not have to be nice to, such as waiters, bus boys, taxi drivers, etc?
ii) How do they treat parents and siblings? Do they have gratitude and appreciation? Do they show respect? If they don't have gratitude for the people who have given them everything, you cannot expect that they'll have gratitude for you - who can't do nearly as much for them!
iii) Do they gossip and speak badly about others? Someone who gossips cannot be someone who loves others. You can be sure that someone who treats others poorly, will eventually treat you poorly as well.
QUESTION #5: Is there anything I'm hoping to change about this person after we're married? Too many people make the mistake of marrying someone with the intention of trying to "improve" them after they're married. You can probably expect someone to change after marriage for the worse!" If you cannot fully accept this person the way they are now, then you are not ready to marry them.
In conclusion, dating doesn't have to be difficult and treacherous. The key is to try leading a little more with your head and less with your heart. It pays to be as objective as possible when you are dating, to be sure to ask questions that will help you get to the key issues. Falling in love is a great feeling, but when you wake up with a ring on your finger, you don't want to find yourself in trouble because you didn't do your homework.

caramon says on 11 January 2005 · 06:48 PM: Cara was happy.. finally he will be going over to perth, where his GF is studying.. its been a long wait.. since they got together, everyday was bliss.. they meet each other almost everyday..
Of course good times never last.. back in his mind, he knows that karen will pursue her studies oversea.. its good to have a good education, especially for gals.. he will never deprive her of that.. it will be selfish on his part..
Of course he would have join her, but due to money constraint, he couldn't go.. however cara is a promising young man.. without degree, he will not lag behind.. and was constantly finding ways to upgrade himself..
After searching for the cheapest air-fare, he was on the plane to perth.. everything was new to him.. yes, its the first time he's on board the plane.. it seem excited to him , but at the same time, feel ailen..
He never show it, and try to act as cool as he could muster.. the long flight doesn't help a bit.. flash-back of the wonderful times somehow ease away the tension.. they been to almost all the places you can name of.. east coarst, orchard, bedok eating bak- cho mee..
He's thankful for their sweet memories together.. they are like the perfect couple.. quarrels was always short.. being patient, they lead a peaceful relationship.. the 4 years together was not wasted..
Finally the plane touch down.. the feeling was of excited and nervy.. he can't wait to see her.. it was cold outside, as temperature continue to dip.. its winter now, and its the first time he experience anything like that... all his life , is revolve around sinkapore and malaysia.. the furthest being thailand..

Tom's resources are plentiful and diverse.. When he has to travel standing up, he always keeps his jacket unbuttoned, carefully adjusting his posture so that the lower edge of his jacket hits the face or the eyes of those sitting down.. If anyone is reading, they are easy prey for Tom.. Watching him or her closely, Tom places his head near the light so as to throw a shadow on the victim's book..
On the MRT, If he manages to take the seat, he never gives it up to anyone, but the moment he sees a pretty lady climb on board he immediately stands up..
For all his inconsiderate and irritating behaviour, Tom surprisingly have his fair share of girls surrounding him.. Not that they mind though, as Tom is more than capable of amusing them with his trendy jokes and overwhelming personalities.. Compare him to Peter I finally understand why people always lament that "love is blind"..
