Dear Muslim Friends,
On behalf of the Catholic community of the
Archdiocese of Singapore, I would like to wish you and all Muslims a
very happy Hari Raya Aidilfitri. May you have reaped great spiritual
rewards from the season of Ramadan.
Muslims and Christians share a common humanity, and a tradition of prayer and fasting to help us draw closer to God.
Lent
is similarly a time of deep reflection and sacrifice for Catholics so
we can appreciate the faith and discipline that is required of Muslims
during Ramadan.
It is wonderful that we live in a country where many Catholics will
have been invited to break fast with their Muslim neighbours, friends
and colleagues and to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri with them.
May
our respective faith communities continue to work together in the
humble and generous spirit of charity and compassion for the less
fortunate in Singapore, so that the message of faith, hope and love from
God may continue to yield abundant blessings for all.
I wish Muslims renewed spiritual energy, peace and happiness.
Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri!
Archbishop Nicholas Chia
