Dont want to go into details about the interview except that there was only hostility with no open dialogue but the' hear me out or else ultimatum' Now I know that there is only one God of all living creatures but at that time my thoughts were different and so when I said second chance it meant my own true GOD ...which is primitive & wrong.Anyway all I wanted to say in the first place is that most people knew Gregory Yong as the Arch Bishop and I am sure he was excellent in his job but we met in different circumstances and said things that didnt make any sense.
I think no one has a right to pass judgement on your views as none of us were in your situation there and then.
I guess when we ourselves are scrutinized by our fellow men one day, there will be the ones who sing praises of us, while others who criticize us. The truth is, we are all humans, and as humans, are anywhere near perfect. There are days where we feel great about ourselves. and days where we are totally off the line. There are times we decide to look past everything, others where we are just anally retentive. As such, there is no just one single narrative that can define one person, rather how we choose to remember individuals. In your situation, you met with his ugly side, and as such remember him in that respect. For me, I met him under different circumstances, and as such see him in a different light.
As such, I hope you would not feel bitter about your situation, rather, just pray that you will have the strength to look past your experience and journey towards building your faith in God.
also.. i'd like to point out something i think no one remembers.
that in all experiences we have in life.. good or bad, God allows it. nothing can happen to us unless God, who loves us so, allows it.
so if God allows it, i think it's a good idea to pray and ask God, what is He trying to tell us in this situation, because God's plan for us is never to harm us, so there must be something good for us in this situation.
just a thought, ninja, anything u need to talk about, just pm me ya? i need to go off le.
=)

hmm, in a way, i think he should have apologised la, too bad he's dead.
the leader should serve the people under him, that's God's hierachy. and he did a bad job serving you, but that's because he's human.
but there could be many underlying misunderstanding also.
but in the end, he's dead.. let the dead bury the dead, you, short ninja, follow God.

This is not the platform for this. I hope you can forget and move on.
May he and the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace.
As the others have said, his death closes that chapter in your life. I'm sorry he was harsh towards you. Whilst you had a personal reason, death isn't a time to be flippant and callous the way people here were at the time of Pope John Paul II's death and in the Mrs Lee thread..
It's a sad day for the followers of a particular religion, if the follower of that particular religion uses issues in his religion to justify a totally non-religious issue.
It vilifies the sanctity of religion and all things sacred.

i think the issue was religious.
love your neighbour as you would love yourself.
it would be nice if a catholic can help ninja resolve his struggles and hurts, i believe it would probably be what gregory would want, and in my opinion, more meaningful than weeping and crying, rather than shooting him down, and deepening the hatred.

peace.
(statement wasn't intended for short ninja)
short ninja should just let it pass, he has passed on. it's not what you believe in that makes a difference, it's who you are and what you stand for.
let it rest. peace be with short ninja.
Human decency is universal.
I saw the archbishop celebrating mass in NTU a couple of times back in 1998-2002.
I certainly hope God would raise him from the world of the dead in the last day otherwise the life that he had commited to God would be in vain. Meanwhile rest in peace. May God forgive his sins and find him worthy to eat from the tree of life. Though he no longer remember God by now God never forget anyone.

unfortunately, there is no "should" in forgiveness. nobody who has his face slapped, automatically feels that he "should" forgive. Given that, some forgives easier than others, but there are those who just can't let go. they need God's love and grace to overcome that.
And it helps if the offending party initiate to ask for forgiveness for any trespasses, and apologise. A christian is called to be a peacemaker, something i just recently learnt.. honeybunz would do well to remember that.
i should know how ninja feels, because i'm someone who naturally bears grudges too. but in the end, will forgive la, but it takes a long while to continuously remember to forgive again and again, everytime i remember the incident.
and of course, i forgive easier, when i hear the word "sorry". =)
If someone truly preaches what he teach, then he should stand outside ISD and protest the torture of prisoners there. Isn't that thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself? Or does this neighbourly principle only subject to circumstances which is beneficial to ones self interest?
Some folks here profess to be good catholics, but are actually hypocrites.
I have seem many catholics, some good, some just pure hypocrites who hide behind the lords name to shield themselves and justify their actions.

And Jesus also mentioned that even when a man sins against us 7 times a day. Each time he says he's sorry we should forgive him.

forgiving is easy, forgetting is hard. most of us fail the latter and let it bear grudge.
i hope short ninja finds his peace. afterall monsignor gregory yong has passed on, no point bearing grudges against them.

lol, i am not a catholic because of that, but, everywhere have their bad sheep la.
i was at a catholic church recently, u can feel... unwelcomed la, as a newbie. everyone's only interested in talking to ppl they know etc. i definitely have alot of beef against catholics, but i want to grow out of it la.

heh heh! did you know, that forgive AND FORGET is not in the bible?
the forgetting part is a burden we put on ourselves.
Jesus says, "Forgive, just as I have forgiven you"
not
"Forget, just as I have forgotten you".
Jesus only wants us to forgive, why? because we can't forget, it's totally impossible, because it is a significant event in our life. it's a hurt, and it's significant and it goes deep.
But as we forgive, again and again and again... God takes away the sting of the incident, and when we remember, we don't feel the pain and angry and frustration anymore.
so don't burden yourself with "extra logic", just stick with the bible's way la. just keep forgive! =)
but, back to the topic, well, it's apparent that ninja has trouble forgiving, so being the more mature christian, they should initiate apology to help facilitate ninja.
unless, all those fancy talk about using the soft method to show love to your neighbours are just that. fancy talks.

haha, if you truely believe that verse. and if you feel that gregory was wrong in being mean to ninja, then apologies on his behalf lor, since he is unavailable now.. tts what i feel when you said that sentence.
give until ninja what belongs to ninja, an apology.
and who knows, because of that, you would have won him over and he will be at peace.

i am no catholic too. i come from an anglican school.
i know of many catholics from st.peter st. paul, st joseph and cathedral of good shepherd, they are all pretty nice folks. many of them encourage me to convert to catholicism, but i didn't because i believe that the most important is what dwells within, not what you believe.
no point having vengeful thoughts and at the same time preaching his gospels.

Which I did, somewhere higher up in this page, although I advised him to hold a bit more respect.

maybe u pm him better la. i think these are personal, then maybe u can talk to him more, find out what actually happened. maybe it was a misunderstanding etc.
like me and my youth leader.
also, an apology shouldn't be mixed with telling the offended person how he should have acted. treat it as 2 seperate issues, and don't belittle that apology. the purpose of the apology is to bring peace to the offended and the offender.
don't mix with other issues, if you want it to be sincere.
tts how i feel again.

I want to clarify that I have nothing against you personally in spite of our skirmishes, before this drags on. If the message is (also) for anyone else, kindly write them a PM.
lol... maybe u 2 should pm each other, or whoever involved. going out of topic.
