  Sorry, not the prayer but the music.
  
  Two questions here.
  
  1. How many diff versions are there? There seems to be a million versions sung by a million different singers.
  
  2. Is there a proper Catholic hymn by the same name? Sounds more like classical music to me, sung by a soprano.

  2. It's also sung in Gregorian chant format. Does that count?

  It's basically the Hail Mary. Schubert, Bach and Verdi, among many others, composed arias based on the text.
