I am an ex catholic and was active at one time playing a guitar for Charismatic Sessions.I noticed a lot of people who have psychological problems like to attend ....like some sort of group theraphy for them. Its interesting that you call it slained as some call it the spirit of god.Ive seen my friend pengsan before and I think it is similar to epilepsy but then it is not.Nobody can explain why this happen but it does not only confine to Catholicism but other mass gathering in other religion aslo.Dont laugh but even at World Cup final you see people kena slained(dont mean to disrespect but this is true)Originally posted by SIMpLiFy:Hey all,im a catholic and the other day i attended a healing mass and alot of people were being prayed over, then i noticed them falling backwards and i believe they're slained, just got a few questions here...
Do you lose conscious of ur surroundings when slained?
How does it feel like after u fall?
How long will it take to get up?

You've probably never been involved in one, and no one here has been mugged in the process. Go away.Originally posted by the Bare:This is a form of hypnotism, similar to the method used by those bad guys to cheat grannies of their life savings.
What about losing one-tenth of your hard-earned money every month?Originally posted by Kuali Baba:You've probably never been involved in one, and no one here has been mugged in the process. Go away.
Congratulations, you just revealed your utter ignorance of the Roman Catholic Church in Singapore.Originally posted by the Bare:What about losing one-tenth of your hard-earned money every month?
I thought the 10% is not obligatory for Catholics.Originally posted by the Bare:What about losing one-tenth of your hard-earned money every month?
Good that you have done your homework! The peaceful feeling experienced by many is a good thing, but we should not depend on these too often.Originally posted by maryteresa:But also, I don't think it's something that we have to be too excited about. Because the great mystics like St Teresa or St John of the Cross always remind us of the danger being too fond of this spriritual manifestation. Nevertheless, we have to thank God, if He come and give us this.
almost wanted to click that button siah ..Originally posted by Fateemah:This is also known as Jerusalem Syndrome, and it's common among many religions.
Since we can't find any Church Teachings on it, it doesn't exist in Tradition.Originally posted by Icemoon:Biblically, there is not much support for it.
I'm not sure about Tradition though. Any Catholic care to share?
Yes we should not be dependant on 'miracles' alone and the danger of being 'addicted' to seek more miracles...that in the end it's not God that you're after but experiencing miracles or having certain (spiritual) powers. Not to mention the danger of being arrogant for having numerous manifestations/miracles. And the danger of linking manifestations/miracles with God's care/love. The problem is when these manifestations/miracles stop to manifest themselves....for whatever reason or simply for no reason at all, one who is used to them would likely feel abandoned by God or worse missing the manifestations/miracles just for the sake of experiencing them much like a thrill seeker. One word: caution.Originally posted by catinthehat:actually to me its very simple, as a Catholic.
You already got the Eucharist, which is the biggest sacrifice which anyone has ever given for you*. Then why still need extra things like 'slain-in-the-spirit' etc etc to sustain your faith leh? If those things gone, then what will happen to u?
