Eastern Catholics

  1) Is there any Eastern Catholics in singapore or any Eastern (or byzantine rite Mass) in singapore
  
  2) What difference do we have in terms tradtiion (not sacred Tradition). I do know they dont have celibate priest but do they look at doctrines with the Eastern Mindset?

  1) There are Greek-Catholics, dependent on the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic bishop of Melbourne. I think they have Divine Liturgy once a month. Not very sure but can check.
  
  There are some Eastern Catholics, but extremely rare.
  
  2) I think they do not follow Canon Law. They have their own statutes. They also have their own liturgical rubrics. None of those modern innovations in their liturgy. No rosary or exposition of the Blessed Sacrament in the Eastern rites also.

  2) Eastern mindset, but of course always deferring to Rome when necessary.
  
  3) The Great Schism between the East and West led to the existence Orthodox Churches and the Roman Catholic Church. Later on some Orthodox churches returned to Rome and are therefore known as the Eastern Catholics.
  
  Let us pray for reconcilliation.

  reconciliation between western and eastern catholics? nigh redundant. we should be seeking reconciliation with orthodox churches, protestants and restorationists.
  
  and anyway, there are eastern catholic churches that claim to never have been out of communion with rome. I have no idea what are rome's responses to that, but that'll be irrelevant and redundant.
  
  eastern catholics generally have their own rites to follow, however there are no eastern catholic priests or churches in singapore, and for that matter they are forced to go to latin catholic churches. and of course, our current mass of paul vi are too different form theirs.

  Eastern Catholics are IN COMMUNION with rome. Some of them never followed the Patriach of Constantipole into schism. However since 98% of the Catholic Church are Roman Catholics, there is a tendency to forget them.
  
  Their rites are not inferior to ours in any sense. The Mass of PopePaul VI only applies to the Roman Rites. The Eastern Rites lturgies are much older. Furthermore Eastern Rite priest have thier own discipline such as married priest, unleavened bread, icons etc.

  I never said eastern catholics are out of communion with rome... unless you were correcting someone else. haha.
  
  perhaps he refers to reconciliation as reforming the rites to have more in common with each other rather than largely separate traditions. as it stands, after all, western catholics have more in common with protestants like say, lutherans, rather than eastern catholics.
