ooo i like gregorian chants.. and that russian orthodox chants, not that i can understand a word.Originally posted by Ariedartin:holy family choir nice... but our style is far from gregorian chant. spiritual fits it better. haha. but why am I saying this...
so anyway, before I enter the seminary, it could be political science, psychology or sociology... the problem is that I don't know which is more relevant and useful, and I'm not sure if I have the time to get bachelors in more than one of them...
Mebbe taking up theology after i finished my studies...Originally posted by Honeybunz:Any of you Catholics, during your younger days or even now, thought of becoming a Priest, Monks or Nuns (or any Protestants ever wanted to become Pastors and Reverend)?
When I was schooling, I ever thought very seriously about becoming a nun, but couldn't quite decide which order to join. I thought of Camelite, cuz I was inspired by The Sound of Music. I also liked Good Shepherd cuz I saw the works that they do at hospitals, Marymount and their convent in Katong. When I helped out in Little Sisters for the Poor, I was impressed by them.
Every day, I attended Mass, just to be close to the Lord. When I saw the Priest celebrating Mass, I was so envious cuz the Church wouldn't accept female priests.
I ding dong here and there, comtemplating.... Before I know... I started to meet guys, involved in relationship, received marriage proposals, started working & moved up corporate ladder etc etc... that I totally stopped thinking about religious life anymore, cuz I am too comfortable in the secular life now. I just hope that I dun get too distracted by the worldly stuff and distant myself from the Lord.
Medicine is good.Originally posted by Ariedartin:oh, and I'm also considering theology without going into the priesthood, if I get into medicine, that is. if I don't, then it's very likely to be priesthood for me.
ooh. now a fourth choice has popped up: philosophy. sounds like I'll be having a rough time choosing which university to take up in preparation for priesthood. haha.
You like to be Bishop Sponge so much .. but I hope after your theology studies you will become another John Sung.Originally posted by laoda99:Mebbe taking up theology after i finished my studies...

So many, you go to Catholic.org.sg and check the Mass times lor.Originally posted by Icemoon:OT a bit .. any parish offers the mass in mandarin? I mean the whole package .. including the missal.
The thing about Chinese Mass is that the liturgical text is closer to the Latin than the English translation is.Originally posted by Icemoon:Hmm .. how will it sound in mandarin I wonder.
Never seen a chinese missal before.![]()
Join the Legionaries of Christ. They are very traditional and orthodox.Originally posted by Pope Nicholas:It isnt in schism and traditional.
Though the Holy See declared the 1988 consecrations a schismatic act, it does not view SSPX as constituting a schismatic Church, but has stated that some SSPX members are personally schismatic
Ok maybe not SSPX...a bit politcally tricky. But perhaps a fully legal traditional priesthood or the Jesuits possibly.
I also wouldnt mind being a Lasallian Brother haha.
Though i doubt i would be a priest...i wanna be married haha
What advice did they give you at SFX?Originally posted by SingaporeMacross:I am discerning a vocation to the priesthood, but for now I shall take the advice of the brothers at St Francis Xavier.
