Who here ever thought of taking up the religious vocation?

Any of you Catholics, during your younger days or even now, thought of becoming a Priest, Monks or Nuns (or any Protestants ever wanted to become Pastors and Reverend)?
When I was schooling, I ever thought very seriously about becoming a nun, but couldn't quite decide which order to join. I thought of Camelite, cuz I was inspired by The Sound of Music. I also liked Good Shepherd cuz I saw the works that they do at hospitals, Marymount and their convent in Katong. When I helped out in Little Sisters for the Poor, I was impressed by them.
Every day, I attended Mass, just to be close to the Lord. When I saw the Priest celebrating Mass, I was so envious cuz the Church wouldn't accept female priests.
I ding dong here and there, comtemplating.... Before I know... I started to meet guys, involved in relationship, received marriage proposals, started working & moved up corporate ladder etc etc... that I totally stopped thinking about religious life anymore, cuz I am too comfortable in the secular life now. I just hope that I dun get too distracted by the worldly stuff and distant myself from the Lord. -
i never did.. i was way too naughty and evil to be a good priest
i thought of helping out the church in various capacities but plans were mashed because i worked shift.. then after being transferred to office hours, and settling into a routine, ended up with a back injury which kind of mashes anything i try to do..
sometimes i wonder.. what can i do?
maybe once i'm totally well again, i'll go have a look at the board in church

I as a 17yr old still harbor thoughts of being a priest. Maybe I would have joined the SSPX or any traditional priesthood.

I ever thought of becoming something like Sister Act cuz I used to go clubbing, smoke, drink, tell tonnes of dirty jokes.
I thought by becoming a nun (with my this kind of character), I would be able to reach out to Ah Beng, Ah Lian, Prostitutes etc. -

It isnt in schism and traditional.
Though the Holy See declared the 1988 consecrations a schismatic act, it does not view SSPX as constituting a schismatic Church, but has stated that some SSPX members are personally schismatic
Ok maybe not SSPX...a bit politcally tricky. But perhaps a fully legal traditional priesthood or the Jesuits possibly.
I also wouldnt mind being a Lasallian Brother haha.
Though i doubt i would be a priest...i wanna be married haha -

Just be an eastern-rite catholic priest. ONli Latin-Rite ( Roman Catholics) priest require celibacy. Roman Catholics is just one rite of the Catholic Church headed by the Pope.Originally posted by laoda99:Join orthodox then. I think they can be married. -

I've started considering a priestly vocation, though at 16 it might be a little late or early. at the same time, I'm also considering medicine.
in either case, I'm still aiming to go to university. I plan to do something in sociology, social work, psychology or political science before I head to seminary. hey, it might be useful. -
I suggest POlitical Science or INternational Relations and Theology if u wish to be a high-ranking memeber. I think to be a bishop u might need it. there's no theology in NUS, is there? oh bother.
then again, knowing society is important, hence sociology. but being able to communicate to the people is also vital, hence psychology... -

holy family choir nice... but our style is far from gregorian chant. spiritual fits it better. haha. but why am I saying this...
so anyway, before I enter the seminary, it could be political science, psychology or sociology... the problem is that I don't know which is more relevant and useful, and I'm not sure if I have the time to get bachelors in more than one of them... -

I would, but I didn't go for this year's. what a pity. but they won't be touching on university subjects, would they?
