Cathedral needs renovations?

if anyone has been to the Cathedral (of the Good Shepherd) in recent years, you should have noticed the state of disrepair that it is in. does anybody think the it's about time we organized some fund raising to renovate the cathedral? after all, it's high time that after all the money we have spent renovating and refurbishing parishes, we had best direct the attention to the anchor of the archdiocese itself...

i think there r plans la...ya the wall with the crucifix i saw some cracks... -
the paint is starting to flake off, and there are several parts where the glass has been smashed, and for quite long, too. haha.
no la, I'm just trying to see if anyone would support it. I can't single-handedly mend the cathedral.

i saw there was some construction next to the Cathedral ground, then the partitioned some area of the grounds to put their construction tools -

I guess the renovation (if any) can only start after the construction is completed. Then, maybe the church can do some fundraising for the renovation. We don't have this kind of traditional church building anymore. We should make an effort to preserve them, esp this is a Cathedral.

even so, it'll need a lot of renovations. and expansion, too. because once you have freshened up the cathedral, people are bound to flock there. haha.
anybody have any ideas what the neighbouring construction works are about, anyway? they really are making the already deplorable condition of the cathedral look worse.

a circle line under the cathedral? now that's going to complicate renovations...
unless we move the cathedral to somewhere all the more spacious, or unless we buy up surrounding land.

I think some activities in aid of the Cathedral Restoration Fund have already started.

I think we need more than mere restorations... we need extensions and upgrading works. the facade looks rather depressing...

You don't see a lot of local catholic stuff on google. Nobody talks about such things.

Seriously why not the bishop move house? The cathedral is simply defined as the home for the bishop. Just move house .. to Novena perhaps.

a cathedral is the see (seat) of the bishop, true, but it's not so simple as packing up and moving.
anyway, cathedrals are traditionally the most elaborate and impressive in their respective diocese, but ours does seem to be the exception. about time we made it the rule huh. -
I think they should make the one in CHIJMES the cathedral. That one Catholic building also mah .. but so much nicer.

CHIJMES was nice, but yes, it isn't catholic anymore.
maybe a full-scale overhaul of the current cathedral. how about making it tower over the flanking SMU buildings?
