As a Catholic, do you look forward to meeting the Pope, either Vatican City (while you're holidaying in Europe) or during his visit to Singapore (if he ever comes here)?
Has any of you seen the Pope before (either Pope John Paul II or the present one)? -

When JPII celebrated Mass here, I was just an infant. And when I was planning to go to Italy a few months ago, being part of the Pope's audience was among my plans. I still intend to make the trip some time in the future.

I've seen the late John Paul II about 3 years ago, during a holiday in Rome. I happened to be visiting the Vatican museum on a Sunday morning, and so I went with the crowd at St. Peter's square to watch him deliver his weekly sermon from his balcony. That was the only time I've seen a Pope, and that was from a distance of 70 metres or something. But the atmosphere was great alright, people cheered when he appeared on the balcony. It really showed the power of one man to move thousands of people just by his presence.

Haha...yes it was. The late John Paul II was a very charismatic individual. The current Pope is a rather different person and doesn't quite inspire the same sort of adoration as his predecessor.Originally posted by Honeybunz:Must be a very nice experience!

JP2, twice Time's man of the year... there was never a time when the secular world had loved a pope any better.
I place my faith in the new pope to guide us, though. he doesn't have to be famous to be good. -
