how should i fill in the gap in my resume?

I got more gaps in my resume than Auntie Lulu's 10 year old
dentures..seriously...
never been a problem.prospective employers always admire your
"independence"... and it gives you better bargaining power too as they know you
are not too desperate cause you can revert back to being a bum, and the
perception is that financially you don't give too much of a hoot...
Bums live good lives... Not everyone can become a Bum..only the chosen few...

Have to say lots of employers appreciate the fact that if you were self-employed before you will understand the business, financial-especially cash flow side of the business. By being a bum, I mean being a self sufficient bum.
Just earning enough to get by and than bumming the rest of the time takes skill.
One of my good friends is a Bum-mo Supremo..everyday he is at the marina fooling around with the gers and his boat, no body has ever seen him work for like 20 years..all he does is just do some freelance sales for some oil rig parts company..normally just co-ordinating the steady orders from his laptop for 1 hour a day...he dosent let the work overwelm him, he dosent want too much sales..just enough to cover his lifestyle is fine..
imo not many people would do that, they would try for every last cent and thus have no time for bumming..its normal -

this is from my own personal experience.... i sent in some resumes earlier this year with a 2year gap being explained as "self employed"because I am...went for some interviews...no one want to hire because of that self employed listing...many employers said they find self employed people problematic as they find these people have alot of office adjustment issues, very set in their ways, not good worker bees, etc, etc. I really felt very discriminated against just because i was an entrepreneur...
One employer even told me to my face that they called me in cause he was curious about my business concept and wanted to know how I was doing in my line..they viewed me as a novelty item, much more interested in my business than as a prospective employee...I gave up look after a couple of months and am still running my own business now. I seriously wouldnt recommend listing self employed in your resume, especially if you are young n female. Hiatus to travel the world is better. Good luck in your job search!

But I honestly think that (if they have been employed 'bosses' for a long time) they somtimes just wanna boost their own ego by being able to reject you.
Sort of like "see, altough I'm just an employee and don't have the guts to go on my own, I am a success in my life cause I can deny you a job'".
Getting a regular job is easy. Being your own boss (or a bum) is tough and requires endurance and lots of self discipline.
Like I mentioned in the Bar Closing thread, the prisoner who has spent his whole life in the prison knows no other life. He feels safer in prison than leaving. But it's still a prison. It tough on the outside, but at least its the outside.
Enough rambling from me.... time to go see if any gers will have me..
