Can anyone explain this to hippo?

the answer found from the web:
the smallest angle of the red triangle = inverse tan( 3/8 ) = 20.56 degrees
the smallest angle of the green triangle = inverse tan( 2/5 ) = 21.8 degrees
So the two triangles used to form the hypotenuse of the final "triangle" (all four pieces total) don't actually make a straight line, which causes the final "triangle" to be a quadrilateral. Depending on which of the smaller triangles is used on top and on bottom changes the total area of the quadrilateral, and when the red one is on top there is enough area added to equal one extra square

both look the same but in reality, there is a difference at the edge of the 2 triangles.
the person who did this shave off very insignificant bits off the slanting part of the triangles thus creating a missing square. -
Oic, I thought that the shape doesn't look the same due to some shaving off the sides....

Clue: Look at both triangles' longest side - One is abit concave, another is abit convex. -

the red and green triangles aren't similar.. therefore, like hippo says, the "hypotenous" isn't straight -

you notice the green triangle of the lower diagram?
the top corner is exactly at the 5th square from the left and 2nd square from the bottom...
the similar location in the top diagram does not fall exactly at the same grid point...
this would mean that the "whole triangle" is not really a triangle.. the line that is the longest part of the "triangle" the "hypotenous" is not a straight line at all..

just look at the area circled. the intersection points are not that same, so it means the line form by the long edge of the triangle is not straight. hence the shape form by all the pieces is not a triangle. -
