In Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, there is a character (Remus Lupin) who is a werewolf. When he was young, he was bitten by one and ever since, he transforms into a monster on the full moon.
Later in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, one man at the hospital was bitten by a werewolf and couldn't be cured.
This set me thinking. Lycanthropy in the wizard world is like HIV in our world. Both are incurable and a burden to the sufferer. Receiving a bite from the werewolf is like receiving HIV-tainted blood by mistake. There is no way to rectify it.
What do you guys think?
