You'll be surprised but 2 of our ex-presidents weren't born in Singapore. They are namely:
Encik Yusof Bin Ishak, first president of Singapore, was born on 12 August 1910 in Perak. He was married with his wife, Noor Aishah with 3 children, a son and 2 daughters.
He received his early education in the Malay school in Kuala Kurau, Perak. When his father, a civil-servant, was posted to Singapore, Encik Yusof came over too. While in Singapore, he studied at the former Victoria Bridge School .
Mr. C V Devan Nair, third president of Singapore, was born in Malacca on August 5 1923. Together with his family, he came down to Singapore in 1933.
He received his education in Rangoon Road Primary School then at Victoria School.
He was elected president by Parliament on October 23 1981.

Dr. Benjamin Sheares, second president of Singapore, was born a Singaporean on 12 August 1907. He had 3 children and of course his loving wife.
He received his education in Saint Andrew's School and Raffles Institution.
He was elected president on 2 January 1971.
Mr Ong Teng Cheong, the fifth president of Singapore was born in 1936 in Singapore. Mrs Ong, sadly, has passed away just recently, leaving her much-loved husband and two grown-up children behind.
He entered school late because of the Japanese Occupation of Singapore. Although this, he was also a very outstanding student during the period of his education.
He was the first president to be popularly electedby the people on 1 September 1993. He stepped down as our president the year, 1999.
