Saab 93 2004 Differences

  This is the list of things "missing" from the 2004 93 SS.
  
  1) Filler cap lock
  2) Boot release on the driver's door
  3) Inner luggage net loops in boot floor
  4) Front door puddle lights
  5) Front footwell lights
  6) GM petrol tank
  7) Carpet holders on passenger side
  
  Anybody has anything to add/modify?

  Yes, there has been some cost cutting going on at Saab.
  
  I know because the BSR Sport Exhaust has one version for 2003 and another for 2004. Thanks to the different fuel tank used for the 2004 model.

  Believe it or not, the bean counters at GM has already laid their grubby hands on our beloved Saab and saved themselves some pocket money to buy coffee!!!!!

  I'm so glad I bought my car earlier! I actually consider some of the dropped items to be quite essential.
  
  (1) No puddle lights = higher chance of stepping in mud.
  
  (2) No footwell lights = not being able to tell if you stepped in mud due to (1)!
  
  Anyway, how much money can they save by dropping things like metal loops and carpet tabs?

  Ya, and my 2004 model was (mis)programmed for 2003 tank... which caused many many many problems starting on the 2nd day I took delivery of the car...

  They have different codes for different petrol tanks! I wonder why? I thought only the shape is different, no?

  I think the tank capacity is less in the 2004. Had a look under a 2004 model the other day. The exhaust piping takes a straighter route to the back. I mean it has the same number of bends, but the 2003 models just have a longer route for the exhaust.

  The 2004 model has a 58 liter tank. I believe the 2003 model is 62 l (61?)

  The auto-dimming mirror is only standard on the Aero.
  
  You need to ask for it to be included during the sales negotiation, like me. So I got the auto-dimming mirror and the cruise control included.

  I tried, but no go. Only got the cruise control. Mine was under the hongbao promo already, so I guess that's an excuse for them not to give out any freebies.

  2004 model has no lock-unlock switch on the front passenger door. Even the Aero doesn't have it.
  
  I think the 2204 steering wheel is also skinnier.
  
  Leather used for the seats feel smoother and softer in the 2004 models I sat in.
