Anyone knows what kinda qualifications or which field of knowledge one needs to have or know in order to be a merchandiser or buyer for fashion wear? thanks~

Roles of a purchasing officer
1. finding and approving suppliers
2. purchase at the least total cost
3. organise meetings between specialist and suppliers
4. ensure timely delivery
5. forewarn when there is a delay in delivery
6. verify invoices
7. speculative purchasing
8. advises on prices
9. acts as the "window-on-the-world"
i need to write 4 pages with these... -
steps in selecting a vendor
1. identify potential suppliers
2. invite submission of quotation
3. shortlist suppliers based on criteria
4. request samples
5. approving samples
6. agree on prices and terms
7. place orders
another 4 pages.. -

i know temasek poly got diploma in apparel design and merchandising....got frens from there and they are now have their own labels, selling locally and in the asian region.....
got one went to HK to work.....quite good prospects....
maybe u can go their course site and see.... -
ahhh.. which means i have to finish my degree and go back to take diploma just for that? gosh... i dun think they have this course at my time. Merchanidising course, NAFA also should offer. Not sure what level is it at though. You could check... they may have part time.
