  The seemingly missing piece of the bridge is under water. There is an under water tunnel connecting the two sides so vehicles and ships go without being interrupted by each other.
  
  The bridge is called Monitor Merrimac Memorial Bridge Tunnel in Virginia.
  
  Truly a marvelous piece of engineering!
