Malaysian budget airline AirAsia has shelved plans to start a budget airline here.
Singapore auhorities had granted approval to the airlines' rivals even though AirAsia had applied for an air operator's licence earlier, in January.
AirAsia chief, Tony Fernandes said: "No one in Singapore ever replied to us, so we take it as Singapore did not want AirAsia. So we have taken our investment elsewhere. AirAsia recently bought over the now-defunct PT AWAir in Indonesia.
