Hi megatron!
You flew the A300-600Rs before? Is it safe for me to say then that you flew for another airline prior to flying for SIA? Hope I am not asking too private a question.
I flew on Air New Zealand's B763ERs to AKL last year and was quite impressed with the engine. The C2B6s were used on their 763ERs. Relatively quiet although nowhere near the quietness of the Trent Trip 7s. I have also noticed that the CF6s make a very calm, electric like hum on idle. They also make a "woooooo" sound on spooling for taxi or takeoff, not unlike the Trent 800s. Do you notice that upfront in your office? But I suppose you will hear the "buzzsaw" right?
Lotsa 763ERs are powered by the C2B6s over PW or RR so I guessed like you said, it musta be a solid performer. I have also read somewhere that it has the lowest fuel burn in comparison to the other engine choices.
Cheers!
