SINGAPORE Airlines' first A330-300 commercial flight took off for the Australian city of Brisbane from Changi early on Monday.
The first flight was met in Brisbane by SIA CEO Chew Choon Seng, and Queensland's Tourism Minister Peter Lawlor.
The arrival of the A330-300 in Brisbane concides with the 25th anniversary of SQ's operation of services into the city.
From June, the aircraft will fly 14 times a week between the two cities.
SIA's A330s will progressively enter service between Singapore and other cities in Australia (Adelaide and Perth) and then Japan (Nagoya and Osaka).
The airline currently has four A330s in its fleet, with another 15 due to be delivered between now and 2010.

I'm waiting for the next good deal from SIA, and I'll be heading to brisbane this sept.

Apparently the first flight to Brisbane on the A330 wasn't 100% full. Usually in this sort of thing the maiden flight(on paper that is) is always booked full with plane spotters/enthusiasts. Just the economy just had to take this one...
Tried the A330-300 on SQ on their revenue "test-flights" some time ago SIN-KUL-SIN-JKT-SIN on the first week. Has a solid premium over other airlines. Bye MH, your inflight product's premium is gone(MH used to have the best inflight product between SEAsia and Australia)...
