Today is the last day of operation for the third ground handler. Some of the ex-SATS staff had lone gone to find another jobs or jump boat to CIAS.Other has join the newly small ground handler companies Asia Pacific Star which is a subsidiary of SATS which handle Tiger Airways and Cebu Pacific @ Budget Terminal.Ex customers like Air Asia Berhad,Indonesia Air Asia,Thai Air Asia and Northwest had gone to CIAS for ground support.Only caterings are still provided by SATS.SATS only get Tiger Airways back but operation are tendered to the newly built APS.Swiss Int'l Airlines will cease operations in Singapore on 26th of March this year.
Pity those guys who jumped ship from CIAS or SATS to join Swissport when it opened. Must be regretting that decision now.

IMHO the most sad part about TS's post is this part.

Sigh... Many European airlines gone from SG liao. Finnair, Swiss Intl Air Lines, Austrian Air(& Lauda Air for that example), SAS...
Damn sad siah. Especially miss the Finnair MD11s... Remember they were profitable, but their early morning 4~5a.m arrival into SIN was a horrid nightmare. They flew Helsinki - Bangkok - Singapore. Arrival into BKK was 12~1a.m and departure from BKK was 2a.m. Couple that with the mad early morning arrival totally screwed loads. But got to say that was the earliest BKK - SIN flight and many executives used it. Now the only airline flying tri-holers(jets with 3 engines) is the god-damned Biman Bangladesh with DC10-30s with almost daily 8hour delays, so common that flights often end up cancelled...

Bro you still can see MD planes in Changi,You can try China Eastern flights departure at 10.10am or the 00.55am.They use either MDs or Airbus A330.Another one is the Freighter from MU too.

Permanent A330 and A300. Those noisy engines... I know. MD11 are all subs when the main aircraft goes tech. That is what my contacts at MU's Shanghai office told me.
Haha,But MU pax for the 10.10,16.45 and 00.50hrs flights are good but not for the 03.15 flights.Average is 65-80 paxs only.Maybe cause to Kunming instead of Shanghai Pudong.

That 3am turnaround flight is horrid... Usually A300 subs fly in and out in the dead of night. Do you know how noisy the A300's engines are???
MU does not fly MD 11s for pax ops. Only A330, A300, A320, A343, A346 and B737. The MD 11s are for freighter ops. If you have tri-holer fetish, you can still feast on the freighter a/cs such as MU, Fedex, UPS, LH and recently Shangai Cargo bringing in their MD 11s. But for pax, it's still BGs ex-SQ birds which never seem to arrive/depart on-time. Entering into one of them is like a blast from the past.
The mosr rarest of tri-holers is the L1011. Saw it once a few mths ago on a charter flight here. Absolute stunner. And as for noisy engines, try standing near one of them when the engines are running.
