Heard from groups at SIA @ SATS.Probably around May.Last time round Valuair reluctant to shift there even when offered by CAAS.Hmm with Air India,Indian Airlines,Korean Air @ Asiana Airlines shifting to T2,Valuair will provide an alternative besides the incumbent Tiger Airways and Cebu Pacific if the move is confirmed.

Valuair will only move if Jetstar/Jetstar Asia moves over to Budget Terminal. I don't see how Jetstar/Jetstar Asia can function without its profitable Indonesia shuttle Valuair. Air Asia, and its subsidiaries Indonesia Air Asia and Thai Air Asia, moving over to the Budget Terminal would be more appropriate.
if i remembered correctly, there was an ad on the ST sometime back..
an airline or some airlines moving to T2..
Heard from my sources in CAAS that CAAS hasn't received any proposal by any member of the Qantas group(be it Qantas, Jetstar, Jetstar Asia, or Valuair) to change terminals.
If Valuair moves w/o Jetstar, Jetstar Asia, the Jetstar and Jetstar Asia's routes will be severely compromised due to spreading out of resources. My brother used to work for Jetstar Asia/Valuair(but not Jetstar) as cabin crew and said Jetstar Asia and Valuair share resources in cabin crew and pilots. Essentially they(Jetstar Asia and Valuair) are one holding company. I can't see how anyone can split a company into two like that.
It would be good if carriers like Lion Air, Air Asia(and its subsidiaries Indonesia Air Asia & Thai Air Asia) and the other budget carriers based overseas moved to the Budget Terminal. If Jetstar Asia/Valuair/Jetstar moves to Budget Terminal, feeder and connecting traffic from Jetstar(Australia) and Qantas might be lost as it would be very troublesome in the pax's perspective to clear immigrations and customs and check in again at the Budget Terminal.
That's what i'm thinking also,Last rumours i heard is that either Thai or Indonesia Air Asia will shift operation to BT.

I don't think just one will move. Most likely all will move. But then I think BT would need to upgrade to more aircraft berths. Otherwise BT might be slot restricted...
The baggage handling racetrack should increase too if all Air Asia flights to moved there,Although it is big and long compared to other Terminals but only got one.Sorting tray only 3.BTW Frederiyk can check out with your CAAS friends either is this true? This coming mths i heard that there are at least 7 airlines from T1 will shift to T2/3 respectively.

Sorry but I don't really get what you mean by this~...
For baggage handling only T1, 2, & 3 are connected. Budget Terminal is not connected to the main terminal's baggage handling. That is why when you transfer from a flight at T1, 2, or 3 to BT for your connecting flight, you must clear immigration and customs and collect your luggage, proceed to BT and check in again. T1, 2, & 3 are not linked "air-side"/"restricted zone" to BT.
Just to let you guys know, Changi Terminal(overall) is not fully utilised... There is spare capacity underutilised in T2.

Huh??? Sorting tray? You mean baggage carousels right?
Yup and there will be a few airlines moving from T1 to T2. Prolly not T3 as SQ needs all the gate space there is at T3. Most of the airlines moving are members of Star Alliance, of which SQ is a member. This rationalisation plan is to let all members of Star Alliance to group together to maximise efficiency. The lone exception is Korean Air, and I have been questioning this entity for quite some time. Korean Air is member of rival Skyteam alliance. Asiana Airlines(also from SKorea) is moving to T2. Asiana is a member of Star Alliance. I don't see how the two can co-exist in the same terminal.
But Asiana already at T2.Sorting tray is not baggage carousel. It's something like alluminium tray than most transfer bag are being thrown here via belt direct to Baggage carousel.

Oh that... The transfer linkage. BT is not linked with this system.

Wrong. There are more cost savings. Parking at the BT for planes is cheaper. Turn-around time is also shorter compared to one at the main terminal using an aerobridge.

Parking fees are cheaper. I believe when the BT was constructed the press had statistics that the BT for airlines is cheaper than main terminals as it has less frills. Charge for the aerobridge is expensive. BT doesn't have that. A plus point. Fuel is wasted during taxiing. The BT is nearer to the runway. Fuel is saved as a result. If it was more ex than the main terminals, I am sure Tiger and Cebu Pacific wouldn't be there.
Fuel is one of the biggest accounting factors in the aviation industry. Airlines would do their best to save on fuel. This multiplies in the case of budget airlines, where the break-even point is very high due to the low fares they charge pax.
Yes Fryderyk is right,The parking fee for BT is too cheap,But again budget carriers like Air Asia reluctant to move there because of accesibilty like no aerobridges,No inter-connectivity for transfer pax like what other PTBs have.

No lah, the reason is becoz they don't want to be in the same league as Tiger. Their CEO claims Changi does not allow them to fly into the BT... What rubbish...
The BT in KL also no aerobridges what...
