Singapore Airlines is feeling the squeeze of the global economic downturn.
For the second time since the financial meltdown began, SIA will be suspending an entire route.
In a statement issued by the airline, the three-times-weekly service between Singapore and Vancouver, via Seoul will be suspended indefinitely.
The last flight will be on 25th April this year.
The first time SIA suspended an entire route was late last year for its flights to Amritsar, India.
SIA says the decision to suspend the service is "most regrettable" having served Canada for over 20 years.
Arrangements are being made to notify those customers affected by the change, and to offer them alternative travel solutions.
The airline says customers holding tickets issued before today, for affected flights after the 25th of April, will be eligible for a refund.
SIA says it will continue to serve Canada via its existing schedule of 42 weekly flights between Singapore and its North American gateways, including San Francisco, Los Angeles and Houston.

Not surprising since the loads of the route usually hovered around 60% departing Vancouver. Know this becoz I have personally flown this routing couple of times. Cargo is low yield too. Also SKorea and Canada have signed a new air services agreement allowing Korean Air/Asiana Airlines more frequency to Canada and Asiana is doing just that(by increasing flights). I foresee SIA codesharing with Asiana on the seoul vancouver segment.
